Has anyone planned on going to Asia for their honeymoon?

We are leaning towards Vietnam and Japan.

We're both history majors so we were planning on going to Kyoto for our honeymoon and possibly taking a few days to explore by train any nearby areas. Our dream trip would cost just as much if not more than our wedding though 😂 so we postponed it as an anniversary present to the both of us

I went to Tokyo and Hong Kong for my honeymoon. I've been to Vietnam on a separate trip. Let me tell ya ... Japan is amazing. It's like no other place. It's gonna be an awesome trip for you if you decide to go.

I can't say anything about Vietnam because I've never been there. But I lived in Japan for 5 years so I'm partial to it. It's a BEAUTIFUL place and the culture is amazing. The food is amazing. The beaches are amazing. You would absolutely love it! Smiley heart

If you've never been to Asia before, I'd highly recommend going to Japan first (which is amazing). Vietnam is going to be more of an "adventure" and will certainly take you out of your comfort zone, if you're not used to that sort of thing. A guided tour would be recommended if you wanted to actually experience Vietnam, and not just stay in a fancy resort.

Japan is a lot easier to plan and experience by yourselves.

The bullet trains are something we are for sure looking into as well! Now that I am in the planning phase for the honeymoon I am quickly realizing that the trip we are thinking about doing also may not be feasible because of how expensive it all is! 😂

That is a cute idea! ☺️ Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

We are now thinking of just going to Japan because it would cost too much in flights to go to Vietnam and then Japan and fit in everything else we are wanting to do.

Fun fact, I have actually never traveled outside of the United States, so I am really looking forward to traveling internationally for the first time!

My FH is half Chinese but his family was raised in Singapore but he has also never been to Japan so that is where we are leaning currently! ☺️

That is so cool! I am always in awe of people who are able to pick up and move to another country!

Thank you, right now we are leaning towards Japan because my fiancé has always wanted to go and it appears to be easier to get around from place to place than Vietnam does.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! 💕

We are planning on landing in Osaka then after a few days going to Kyoto and Nara, possibly Fukuoka and then ending in Tokyo.

Since we have some overlapping places, what were the most memorable things you got to do while on your trip last summer? ☺️

That sounds like an awesome place to honeymoon as well!

We have decided to go to just Japan because of how much flights would end up being to go to both places (trying to be reasonable haha) and it looks like the right choice because the overwhelming response is Japan! 💕

My FH's grandparents lived in Hong Kong for a few years and they still say it was their favorite place to live. ☺️

We are thinking about ending our Japan trip in Tokyo because there is so much to do there. What was your most memorable experience? 🌸

That's so exciting. Japan is amazing. You're gonna have fun. So we did everything recommended e.g Mario kart tour, we did a private onsen in the countryside, the Shiba and owl cafes. Surprisingly my favorite thing was kawaii monster cafe - it feels like the epitome of harajuku

We loved Osaka and Kyoto most of all. Everything we did we loved but things that immediately stand out the most to me:

    1. Fushimi inari is open 24 hours, so we went at 11pm. We were there in summer, which is REALLY hot, but at night it felt wonderful and there were only a handful of other people. There was something a little eerie about being there at night and it was amazing (bring some sort of hand lamp). Plus walking through the quiet neighborhoods at night was very interesting! Any shrines or temples that are open 24 hours (or at least late at night) are worth checking out, it has a far more initiate feeling.

    2. We loved TeamLab Borderless - it's very "instagram-y" but at the same time is very unique and we enjoyed our time there.

    3. It sounded kind of lame when I booked it, but the Samurai Museum was really interesting and had a lot of old regalia.

    4. All of Kyoto. We did a lot of walking, especially around the Gion district. I love architecture so Kyoto was perfect.

    5. DisneySea was super unique (and we were both surprised that they didn't really price gouge the way that the locations in the US do)

    6. Eating at small izakayas with just a few seats. I can't remember the most amazing one we went to, but it was in a basement and we had a great time with the other patrons and the chefs.

I hope you guys have a blast!

WOW! Your answer went above and beyond and we are beyond appreciative! 💕

lol Also I love that you did a numbered list because I too do that on here 😂

    1. We too will be going in the summer so I am a little bit nervous about that but I like the idea of being able to attend things at night to beat the heat so I will for sure look into it!

    2. My fiancé and I have looked into TeamLab as well! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it, makes me want to go more!

    3. My fiancé and I both like history so I will look into the Samurai Museum. Do you know if you have to book tickets far in advance?

4, 5, and 6, you have successfully made me super excited to go! I thank you for your well wishes and for your thoughtful reply! ☺️

Do we need some sort of special permit to be able to drive on the Mario kart tour? I see different answers on different online platforms.

I too am wanting to go to the Shiba cafe and I have looked into the rabbit cafes too🐰

From what I have seen from YouTube videos the Kawaii Monster Cafe looks awesome!

I tried really hard to convince my Fiance, but he demands that we go to Iceland first.
