Artificial or Real Flowers ?

Kristen, on July 10, 2019 at 5:58 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 23
I have a smaller flower budget but still hoping to get beautiful bouquets for myself and six bridesmaids. I was wondering if real or artificial is best ?

Artificial can be just as expensive, but I got some deals at hobby lobby and made all the centerpieces and decor. I’m getting a florist to do the things I really want help with and to look stunning for photos, like bouquets and the ceremony arch.

I am considering doing the same thing for our wedding as well. Do you have any tips on how to pick a florist ?

I found one on wedding wire. I compared pricing, how well they communicated with me, and which bouquets I liked from their portfolios.

We are doing real, but my mom will be doing them with whatever we get at the farmers market.

I found a florist on here, Petals in Time, and she is really cheap and does great work. Artificial is usually a lot cheaper. I was at Hobby Lobby last night and I couldn't believe the prices on there flowers lol so I'm not sure where else you could find them.

I personally can't justify more than one larger bouquet or centerpiece with real flowers because I just question what I'd do with them all afterward. Artificial flowers I can gift, use in my home, or even resell.

It depends on your preference. I am buying artificial and buying used centerpieces/decorations. If you are only looking for bouquets it shouldn’t be too hard to find some or put some together.

I got great deals on Amazon for my artificial flowers, and since I have an account with Ebates I also got cash back from shopping on amazon for my decor, flowers, etc. which allowed me to save even more. I am doing all of the flowers, centerpieces, and ceremony decor myself.

I love real flowers. I didn’t have a wedding party but if I did I would have done a single stem or greenery bouquet for the BMs.

I am doing a mix of both. I started with fake but realized good ones cost just as much as real flowers do. I’m actually I’m doing both because I can keep the fake ones to decorate my house after and always remember the wedding and have the real ones at the wedding! We chose colors for the wedding that I could use to decorate the house with for just that reason

My cousin got married over the weekend and the only real flowers they had were the bridal partes'. All the centerpieces, flower girl, and floral design on the floor were silk and let me tell you it was absolutely stunning. No one would've ever known. I only knew because I was the Wedding Coordinator. Makes me regret spending the amount we are on real flowers. So honestly it's all up to you.

I think this is definitely personal preference but the upfront cost of artificial flowers can often times be more than real. With that being said though you can usually re sell them after to get most if not all of your investment back! Personally started out set on real florals but then I realized I am looking at $1000 of dead greenery after the wedding. So I might switch to only real flowers for the bridal party and use artificial for the remaining décor!

We are using a company that does fake floral rental. It is a fraction on the cost amd since most of the time real flowers just die and end up in the trash I dont feel like I'm just wasting money. Im the photos from the mock up you can't even tell they are fake.

I’m not a flower person as they just die anyway so I was on a mission to keep ours as cheap as possible, but still classy. We got my bouquet, 5 bridesmaids bouquets, 11 boutonnières, and 4 corsages for under $500 from our local grocery store. Check there if you are wanting real but on a budget. Sam’s Club also has great deals and I was going to use them before ShopRite

Personally, I prefer the look and feel of real flowers. If you're leaning that way, I would suggest looking at farmer's markets or wholesale distributors if you have one in your area. I've also heard lots of good things about buying in bulk from warehouse stores such as Costco or Sam's Club. You have a little bit more control over design and budget by DIYing.

I am doing real for the wedding party and fake for everything else. We wont be keeping any of them after the wedding and like PP said they are around the same price so it is up to you.

There are sellers on Etsy who do artificial flowers (bouquets, centerpieces, etc.) that are not that expensive. Cheaper than real, but someone else does the work. Since I only need flowers for myself, FH and the wedding party, I'm going this route. I'm not crafty enough to make them myself.

There's a shop called DressMyWedding that does the "real touch" artificial, and they look and feel AMAZING!!
