Artificial or Real Flowers?

Vanessa, on December 30, 2019 at 10:27 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Has anyone used Artificial Flowers for their decor? I want flowers and greenery for my wedding but do not want to spend 1000s of dollars on flowers and greenery that will eventually die. I am also an event planner and I feel like I can always reuse artificial flowers, but would it be tacky to use artificial as oppose to the real thing for a wedding?

Hi Vanessa! I was conflicted about this too, but a friend suggested looking into Something Borrowed Blooms. They have artificial flowers that look so real! They also have awesome reviews. I ended up ordering one collection but changed my mind and emailed them to change my flowers and they were super nice and fixed it for me! I've also been to several weddings with artificial flowers and it didn't bother me at all. It's just not in our budget!

If they are beautiful fake flowers I think that's fine. You can get silk flowers that look really authentic, or sola wood flowers that don't look exactly like real flowers but have a very natural, organic texture and I think they are really pretty in their own right. As long as the flowers don't have that plastic-y look to them, I think fake flowers can be done well.

I did fake flowers and spent way less than I would have on just my bridal bouquet with real flowers! Granted, I only did bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages (15 items in total). I think in your case, either fake flowers or flowers from a wholesaler club (like Sam's) would be your best bet!

We used a mix of both. We had real flowers for bouquets and some real hydrangeas in the centerpieces, mixed in with silk flowers. We got tons of compliments on our flower arrangements.

Hi! We are using fake floral for the bouquets as I also couldn’t imagine spending $200 for a bouquet that would last a week! But our centerpieces are real because they are so simple. 4 mini calla lilies swirled inside a vase and we are letting guests take them. The boutonnières are real only because they are cheaper and just one flower.

Personally I think it’s a great idea to use fake flowers as they can become a part of the wedding memories you have for a lifetime.

I think it's a matter of preference. Artifical flowers can cost as much as real flowers. And what will you do with the artificial flowers after the fact? I'm planning on going with Flower Moxie because they seem to be reasonably priced as we only need bouquets and boutinerres.
