Art Deco x Japanese/“oriental” Themed

Our main idea is to go in 1920s Art Deco attire, have Art Deco decorations, with an Asian twist on the decorations and food. That side of the world became a novelty around the 1920s, so it’s almost like playing two roles. The first role is a 1920s whatever, and the second is the 1920s whatever attending a themed party. Two layers. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Love the idea, although I feel like that might be a bit costly to pull of? To make the theme blatantly obvious (especially when guests don’t always follow the themed dress code) you might have to go all-out for props and decorations.

In addition... If you’re not of Asian descent, it may come off as racist to some guests. Especially since Americans did not treat Asians with the dignity and respect they deserved during that time period. I still love the idea and think it would be fabulous! Just seems like there might be a lot of logistical hoops.

And then just have your theme be Art Deco? I agree with the above poster that some people could take it the wrong way as you described it...
