Armpits!

Christine, on August 26, 2018 at 2:28 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16
Totally random... but I'm really thinking about waxing my armpits for my wedding day. Anyone ever done this? I am not Italian but I have super dark hair. I've been waxing my own lip for years, I don't dare wax my own eyebrows, so I get those done professionally, but that's all I've ever had waxed before. So a little nervous about it. Looking for anyone with experience or advice! Thanks!

Ouch but youve got a tiny bit of time. Try it now then do it again closer if its worth it

Sounds horribly painful. Not sure how far out you are but I'd recommend laser since it lasts for forever.

And please avoid stereotypes like all Italians are have dark hair, it is really closeminded, many women of many ethnic backgrounds have dark hair.

I wax mine! I go to European wax center specifically for this for the type of wax they use...it hurts a little less. It also doesn't leave my arms super red, bumpy and irritated. Since you still have time, I would make an appointment to go now and get it done once. Then you'll see how it feels and see how fast it grows back so you can judge how far in advance to do it before the wedding!

Unsure how this is a stereotype. As I clearly stated, I'm NOT Italian, and I have dark hair. Which means I am of another ethnic background, and yet, still have dark hair. I am always hesitant to post anything on here, specially because of rude replies like this. I end up usually finding myself feeling bad for girls who are asking for advice and get attacked for no reason. I'm sure it will eventually result in my deleting this app. But thanks for your non helpful reply. I asked for experience or advice. Not negative assumptions about what I meant in my post. This should be an app for brides to be supporting and offering advice to other brides to be. Not a place to be derogatory or assume everything everyone says is offensive. Really pushes my buttons to see such negaivity for no reason. But have a great day.

The thing is, there was no reason to bring up heritage at all. I know plenty of people of Italian descent who have blonde or light brown hair. I also know people of Nordic ancestry who have very dark hair. If you had just mentioned your hair color no one would have thought anything of it.

I actually wax my own armpits, eyebrows and upper lip. I’ve tried my doing my own bikini but there’s only so much self inflicted torture I can take lol

but for me an armpit wax is just like any other: it hurts for a minute but then it’s over. Personally I hate shaving anything so I take the pain of waxing over the tedium and irritation of shaving any day.

If you have a European wax center near you try them out for your armpits, just make sure you don’t shave them for a week or so beforehand.

I used to get my underarms waxed every 4 weeks for a couple years. It's so worth it, it's painful for like a second of, more of a shock pain. If that makes sense. But you do get 2-3 weeks of no hair. You can't beat that! The only downside is you have you let your hair grow out to the length of a piece of rice so the wax can grab it. I would definitely recommend it especially if you're leaving for your hooneymoon right after your wedding ! Waxing in general is worth it!

Let me know you're experience with this. I am debating on spending money on having a full wax (underarms, legs, arms, bikini, etc) just so I don't have to shave for my wedding/honeymoon. I have extremely dark underarm hair as well (that little bit of native American does a lot in ways of hair color).

I personally think that waxing will be worth it. I've never waxed my own armpits before, but I've heard you're not supposed to wear deodorant after (this could have changed in the past few years). I have waxed my own legs, but I always miss spots so I'd rather just pay someone to do it.

    That's where I went!!

I went the evening before my wedding- completely painless, and I was even able to wear a sleeveless dress to my rehearsal dinner (no redness or irritation)

I wax my arm pits at European wax center, too. I have super thick hair and it looks like I didn't shave one minute after I shave -- and I also get really bad razor burn and find gel deodorant really uncomfortable to wear after shaving.

Waxing is not super painful (I almost want to tell you it isn't painful / because it really does not bother me at all) - it's worth it. If you've got thick hair and dark shadows your armpits will look so much better waxed.

Give yourself a day or two sometimes I am red.

My best friend does it, she says the first time it hurt but you get used to it. She has dark hair & armpits and it has changed so much. Her armpits aren't as dark and the hair grows back soooo slow. I say go for it.

Most people think waxing is the worst pain but it honestly isn't that bad!! Some people recommend taking a tylenol or advil 30 minutes before the appointment and you don't feel a thing.

I would opt to get it done professionally if you can, just to do the most you can to make sure nothing goes wrong. Since your lip & eyebrows are used to waxing, I would assume your skin would be fine.
