Armpits:)

Ginna T., on September 2, 2015 at 5:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

So I am considering getting my armpits waxed for the wedding. Does anybody have any recommendations about when I should do it? Like the day before or two days? Also how bad does it hurt? I get brazilians so is it compared to that or worse?

Armpits are worse for me than brazillians but luckily it's much quicker. I'd do it 2 or 3 days before. I'm getting mine done Thursday for a Sunday wedding.

OK so maybe Wednesday before a Saturday Wedding? Do you get red in that area?

I don't get red but very sensitive. It almost has an ache to it for the first 24 hours. Like if I'm walking and you naturally sway your arms it stings. The roots of the hair in your armpits are the deepest in your body according to my waxer.

Maybe go get it done now so you can see how your arms react! It would scare me to have 2 days before be the first time!

    ETA: It's early. Need coffee.

You don't have time with a month left. You would have to stop shaving now and depending on how quickly your pits grow they may be long enough a few days before. I have had everything waxed from my lip to top of my toes, but arm pits were the worse for me. You don't realize how much rubbing you do with your arms. I have never been able to get mine done with out causing a major rash. I used the Ingrown Hair Serum weeks before, and used bikini Zone anti-red after. It did not matter.... Pits were the only area I ever had issues

I wouldn't wax them. I waited almost a wk before shaving them and shaved the morning of my wedding. My armpits were nice and smooth. Waxing near the wedding date will freak me out. How about if you get a rash or something?? Do it now and see how your body reacts.

I would do it 2 days before. I find armpits hurt more than bikini but it does go fast at least. Try it ahead of time if you can and that way you will know how long the waxing lasts and to make sure you don't break out in a rash like FMP said.

I would rather have a thousand Brazilian & Full Leg waxes than to wax my armpits. lol

With that said I have gotten my underarms waxed a few times, and each time it was terrible & I instantly wished I never did it. I will probably do it for the wedding/HM just because we're planning on leaving right after & taking a 2 week trip but I'm already dreading it.. and its 9 months away lol

Can I just say that it amuses me that there's a thread called 'Armpits', even though I know it's regarding removal of the hair there....

Omg sounds pretty bad! that's how i feel about eyebrow threading. it makes me cry because it hurts so bad but waxing makes my eyebrows look weird so i still get them done. Smiley sad my FH likes to go watch and i keep telling him one day he's going to do it so he knows the pain women suffer through to look great.

If you've never done it before, don't do it right before the wedding. You don't know how long it will take the redness to go away. I did mine for the first time about 2 months before the wedding and my armpits were red for 4 or 5 days. I'm so glad I didn't do it 1 or 2 days before. I don't think you have time to get a test run in before your wedding. I'd do like FMP said and not shave them for a week, then shave the morning of.

I must be crazy because I don't mind getting my armpits waxed, or I should say sugared. But yes, they do get red for a few days and sore for about 24 hours.

I wouldn't risk doing anything like this for the first time right around your wedding. Whether it will show or not (though I'm assuming it will or your wouldn't be worried about it) it could really hurt and might even end up red which would certainly not look good. I would just shave as normal. If you had a while to go and could do a test run, no problem, but last minute I wouldn't risk it.

I plan on getting mine waxed before the big day.... even when i freshly shave with a brand new razor I'm left with a "5 o'clock shadow". Thick hair problems! I agree with the other girls who said that it's worse than a Brazilian. I did the armpits once and said never again because it hurt so bad, but it's worth it for smooth wedding pits! I would say go a 2-3 days before, take an anti-inflammatory like Aleve, and ice immediately after. That will reduce any swelling or redness.

DO IT! I wax people for a living.....do it ASAP to see how your skin reacts. If you have never done it before, PLEASE DON"T DO IT RIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING. Trust me. You can be red and irritated a couple days after. Does your dress have beading or lace? The friction can cause irritation too. If the first time turns out ok, then yes, go ahead and schedule it about 3 days before the wedding. It takes a couple times to get all the hair on the same growth cycle. The more frequently you wax, the longer you can go in between waxes.

I personally think a brazilian hurts more. Underarms hurt, but its way quicker. 4 strips and you are done. An anti inflammatory before and after and yes, a cold compress will help.
