Arm rubbing on dress beading

sanders4ever, on April 4, 2017 at 7:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

What should I do to stop my arm from rubbing on the beading all night? After wearing my dress for an hour during my fitting appointment it started bothering me. Not sure what to do about it.

This is quite common unfortunately. Is there a way your alterationist could remove the beading from under the arms?

She said she could put a piece of tulle over where it rubs to cover it but I didn't want that because I felt it would look weird in pictures

I've read about using Monistat anti chafing gel does that work?

Tulle might worsen any rubbing, actually. There's this anti-chafing stuff called Body Glide I use when running. It looks like a little tube of deodorant. Maybe something like that on your underarms would work? It dries invisible.

U can also use deodorant if you can't find the glide

I'd get another opinion on removing the beading under the arm. My seamstress said she could do that or cover it with something, which I'm sure she said tulle. I'm probably just going to have some of the beading removed. I think that would be more comfortable.

I'm pretty sure you can use a certain kind of wax just on that area to help. I'm trying to find it for you but ask your seamstress, she may know.

When I go back for my next fitting I'll see about removing some of the beading

I second @Danielle! Body Glide works awesome. Here's the one I use on amazon!

Either remove some of the beading or body glide... it stops all irritation whenever I am training for runs.

I read that the body glide is more for sweat based chaffing though? Has anyone actually used it for beading rubbing?

This wouldn't look the greatest, but you could put mole skin on your skin where necessary. If it's properly under your arms it might not be too noticeable (until "Shout!" plays and you're throwing your arms up!).

You could also look into other mole skin type adhesives for your skin. Maybe there is something that is nearly invisible that would create a barrier?

All of this is IF your seamstress can't remove the beading. I'd go that route first.

I kept this in mind when ordering a dress, but I did ask my consultant what she recommended and she also mentioned body glide for brides who want to keep the beading.

I have the same problem and both the dress consultant and seamstress suggested body glide!

I would put the body glide on before you next fitting and see if it makes a difference.
