Are you doing an exit from reception?

TealWedding, on May 24, 2017 at 11:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

We don't want to do a big exit thing with sparklers, but also wondering if we should try to leave earlier or just leave at the end of the night? Guests have to be out by 11, should we leave at like 10 and let the party keep going for an hour? Or should we wait until everyone leaves and then go?

I would leave when guests leave, otherwise most people would probably assume it's time for them to go too.

I wanted the sparklers but can't at the venue. So I'm doing bubbles!

If the host leave, the guests will leave.

Also there are things to do besides sparklers if that's your hangup ^^ have a banner to bust through, birdseed, balloons, bubbles, confetti, ribbons, lanterns, Roman candles.... Get creative ^^

My venue doesn't allow sprinkles, lanterns, sparklers, probably other things so I'm not sure. My dad said we should leave after the peak of the party but I guess if others will leave then that's not a good idea

I'm just going to leave with everyone else. We'll probably continue the party at the bar downstairs.

My fiancé and I met at college at Mississippi State, and cowbells are a huge thing there. We are ordering mini cowbells for our send off and going to make it sort of a "favor" as well with the school logo on one side and our names and date on the other Smiley smile

For those of you planning an exit- are you just doing it for the cute photos and then figuring out what the plan is with your remaining guests or are you actually going home or to the hotel to be alone? I've never been to a wedding where the bride and groom left after the reception. There's always an afterparty. HaHa!

A good friend did a mock exit. We got our sparklers lit, they got pics, everyone got back to the party.

I thought it was a little weird to stop the party for this but it wasnt a real issue at all.

We are getting married at the hotel that we are staying at for the night so we cant really do a send off. We decided to do a bar crawl after the reception so we are doing glow sticks for something like this.

From my 25 years of wedding experience, first as a DJ in college, and a photographer for the last 15, about 99 percent of the time when a couple leaves early, it kills the reception. Meaning all your guests leave too.

I think it's kind of rude to leave your guests behind. They are there to witness and celebrate your wedding. By leaving early, if I was at a wedding where the bride and groom left early, I would take that as a slap in the face that they don't want to celebrate their day, that they invited us to, with.

If you want to leave early, just end your reception then.

I've never heard of a couple actually leaving the reception early. Cutesy photo prop exits at the end, sure. But then everyone went right to the after party. I'm paying way too much money for my wedding to leave it a minute before i have to!

No because I plan on being there the entire time. I'm about 50/50 on whether I want to continue the party at a bar or just go to the hotel after lol.

We are all staying at the hotel where the reception is, so we will probably not be doing anything fancy to exit. We might be moving the party to the bar down the street. It will be Reggae night. Perfect ending to a beach wedding.

We are leaving at the end of the reception but leaving by horse and carriage. We will have a one hour ride before being dropped off at the hotel. We always try and do a horse and carriage ride whenever we travel so it is the perfect exit for us.
