Are Toms shoes cliche to get married in?

Bobbi, on December 30, 2017 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30
My ceremony will be on grass in front of a river, so heels are out. I considered wedges but don't want any heel bigger than 2 inches so as not to be taller than my FH. Our ceremony has a slight Nautical theme since we're getting hitched on the back of my neighbors huge old school boat and our colors are white and navy. Are these shoes cliche or too casual? I liked the rope bottoms but I'm second guessing my choice.

First - can’t wait to see you BAM photos - I know they will be amazing!

Second - is your dress long? Will your shoes even show?

Third - wear what you like and what makes sense for you. I love the Tom’s you chose and think they are perfect if you like them :-)

Awesome, thanks for the feedback ladies! Technically my dress is ivory and these are white. Will they clash, do you think? It's a long dress anyways so I'm overthinking this for no reason haha!

These are adorable! I think those will be perfect if you’re going for a more casual vibe. Im wearing flats too so I won’t be taller than FH. But we’re getting married indoors, so I splurged on some Badgley Mischkas since I don’t have to worry about them getting dirty or stained. My dress is a diamond white but has a lot of silver and champagne beading detail. The shoes are ivory but because they’re suede it’s more of a champagne. But they’ll be under my dress so who cares? They’re comfortable and will be pretty in detail pics (otherwise when is anyone really going to see them?)

Do you have a picture of them? I've been considering navy blue too since they're our wedding color! My dress is ivory and those lace ones above are listed as white. I'm torn between navy and white!

Not sure about being cliche. But a lot of people wear them for everything including weddings just like Chuck Taylor's. But, hardly anything for weddings is unique/original. If you like them, wear them. I think they're cute.

Those are perfect! It's your day and you certainly want to be comfortable!!
I'm wearing yellow converse.... so are my bridesmaids... they all wanted to be comfortable too. In the end, it's all about what you want 😁

I find those super practical. I was going to wear the lace crotchet Toms, but I fell in love with a pair of heels haha. Whatever makes you comfy!

I bought those exact same shoes! I love them! I was so glad to find such pretty “fancy flats!”

In regard to the original post, I don’t think it’s cliche to get married in Toms and even if someone thinks it is, who cares? Lots of fun or nice wedding ideas are pretty cliche, lol. And worrying about the shoes isn’t really worth it anyway since they will be under your dress and barely seen. But if it’s really nagging you for some reason, you could look around for other options. If you type bridal flats into Google there are some really nice options, that’s how I found mine!

I remember when Toms first came out I didn't understand the hype. I thought they were ugly, and I especially didn't get why people wore them at weddings.

Then I got a pair cheap to try out and became OBSESSED. I have probably like 10 pairs and wear them everyday, and I'm actually known for it at work, haha. They are so comfy!!

I had to have the silver glitter pair for my wedding, and after emailing TOMs who said they stopped making them, I saw that DB made them and I bought 2 pairs to have a backup!! Not gonna lie, if I can find a pair of pink glitter ones, I might have to thank about using those instead Smiley smile

So to answer your question...no, not cliche. They are awesome and super comfy and I saw rock them! I've never seen a lace pair in person, but I bet they're gorgeous!

Okay, officially clicked the "order" button! Thanks for all of the convincing! Worst case scenario I go with something else and return them, but I really think with the rope and lace they'll be perfect for our nautical-feel riverboat wedding! Smiley smile

Definitely not! Unless your dress is short, no one will probably see them anyway. I had foot surgery a year ago and I don't forsee being able to comfortably wear heels within the next year--if ever ugh--so I'll probably be in some Tom's right there with you.
