Are Photobooths worth it?

MissToMrs.R, on April 28, 2017 at 1:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Does anyone have any personal experience of going to a wedding with a photo booth? Our DJ is offering it for an additional $500 for 4 hours. But I'm struggling with doing it as I don't see it being used like some people think it will. I haven't gone to any weddings with one and we live in a very small town so it isn't common to have here. ( I'm roughly 6 hours north of Minneapolis).

Has any of you gone and had an absolute blast with them or watched them sit unused?

    People use it and it's fun. But I'm skipping it.

    My MOH had one at her wedding 6 years ago. It was a big hit and we had fun with it, but we were fresh out of college at the time. The last wedding I went to in the fall had one that no one used. I think it depends on your crowd, but don't feel like you have to spend the money on it. I'd put that $500 towards something else.

    We were gonna rent one but then we just decided to buy a polaroid and let people snap selfies for the guest book instead.

    Plus we can keep the camera afterwards.

    I'd only get it for a large wedding 75+

    It depends on your crowd. I had one at my first wedding and everyone loved it. So I'm going to do one again.

    I've seen them used at the weddings I've seen them at, but I also don't think anyone missed them at weddings that didn't have them, so it's not something I think you need to find the money for. I don't think we'll be opting for one.

    I'm DIY'ing my photobooth! We're also having tons of children at our wedding and wanted a way to keep them entertained!

    I think it most definitely depends upon the personality of your guests. Do you have a fun crowd? Then likely it would be used and fun. I'm not having one - I think I'd have 500 pictures of our kids doing the same goofy faces! LOL

    Thank you Ladies! Its slightly a mixed crowd, lots of rowdy early 20s to mid 50s. But many kids so that is definitely an entertainment factor for them. Ive seen a lot of fun photos and when the DJ said its open its something we have been talking about now.

    I was going to skip it, I went to a couple of bridal expos and wasn't impressed with the quality of their props or operators but my FMIL insisted we had one and offered to get it for us so luckily we found a really nice one so now I'm excited. I can only suggest if you decide on it make sure its good quality and their props aren't falling apart.

    YES!! We had one and I'm so so glad we did. It was such a big hit, people who I didn't expect were having so much fun with it. We have an album with all of the photos in it with messages from our guests.

    I'm on the fence about a photo booth. The last two weddings I attended, I felt like the guests cared more about the booth than socializing and dancing. If anything, I'd have it for an hour or so.

    @MrsFallBride, that is hilarious!

    We are skipping but I was debating about getting a couple of selfie sticks with a few props for people to use.

    I paid $400 for 4 hours. And my guests really seemed to enjoy it. All ages.
