Are matching wedding rings necessary?

Is it unusual for our wedding rings to not match? We’ll be getting married next year and I’m shopping around for rings. My engagement ring is white gold but my fiancé wants a yellow gold band. I want our rings to match for pictures and it feels weird to me for the rings to not match but I’m not sure...

Our wedding bands look nothing alike. I think it is more common for each person to have a different style.

Completely fine for them not to match.

Something I haven't seen anyone mention: skin tone!

Ever noticed that some people look better in "cool" (generally silver-toned) jewelry, and some look better in "warm" (generally yellow-toned) jewelry?

This is because of skin tones! What looks good on you may not look good on your FH.

My husband is cool-toned, and his undertones are pinkish. He looks best in silver jewelry. I'm olive-skinned, so my undertones are greenish. I can wear either silver or gold.

You should each pick what you like the best and like the way it looks on you!

Yeah I’d say that’s all in your head. Rings don’t have to match. Your FH should get the ring he wants, just as you did. Don’t allow the idea of creating “perfect”pictures to be more important than your FH. My ring is white gold and FH wants a black tungsten. No problem!!

My ring and my husband's ring do not match at all! Both my engagement ring and wedding band are platinum and my husband wanted yellow gold for himself.

Hi Alyssa You know it doesn’t really matter you can have white gold or silver or just a gold been a bit of advice to you your fiancé loves gold how about you shop around for a ring that is two-tone gold and silver and that will go very well with your ring have a good day enjoy your wedding

My SIL/BIL don't match! He wanted a plain gold band but she has white gold/diamonds. It looks fine Smiley smile Agree with PP's that you should both get what you love.

I think each ring should reflect the wearer and there is no need for them to match.

My husband has a white gold ring. I would have opted for white gold too but he got me a rose gold engagement ring so I got my wedding band to match.

I've never seen anyone have matching rings unless they got a deal on them. My wedding band is plan gold and his is black with black diamonds and gold details.

We decided that they should match, but only after verifying that white gold looks alright on both of us Smiley xd Mixed metals are very on trend, so I think any photographer worth their snot will make your detail pictures look amazing, ya know?

My parents have matching rings, but it definitely isn't necessary. Here's a picture of ours - not matching at all! (It's hard to see with the angle, but my ring has yellow gold band.)

We got it on Amazon - there were a lot of choices, but we picked a veteran-owned shop - partly because he offers a guarantee and he'll replace it if you got the wrong size (but I don't remember what the shop was called)

My ring and my fiance's ring definitely do not match. My wedding ring matches my engagement ring, and he picked out a ring that really matches his personality (and definitely does not match my ring, lol). I actually love the ring he picked out for himself! The rings don't need to match, just pick something you each love!
