Are electronic invites tacky?

Allie, on December 23, 2018 at 7:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I am thinking to have electronic invites instead of paper ones because they are more cost effective and easier to send out and collect RSVPs. Do you all think electronic invites are tacky?

Depends on the tone of your wedding.
Just be mindful that it could be problematic for a few reasons.
    1) could go to peoples spam boxes
    2) people will most likely forget to RSVP
    3) some people dont check emails often or older folks dont care to have emails.

I am doing my Save the dates electronically and my invites. Except to some people we will mail them out. Older parents and grandparents and Family members who aren't good with technology.

Definitely not tacky, but also gives a much less formal vibe. If you’re ok with that, then there’s nothing wrong with it! My friend did electronic invites on greenvelope for her wedding, but hers was a 40 person wedding in a restaurant, so it was meant to be informal. She had no issues with them being online!

I am responsible for registrations for a competition. Every single person opts in to receive e-mail from us. When I want to e-mail people in that competition, I use a dedicated service that results in each e-mail going out separately (because ones addressed to too many people get flagged as spam). The service also gets white-listed by most spam filters. With all of that, only approximately two-thirds of the e-mails even get opened. Do you really want to use a method that, best case, will have a third of your guests not receiving the e-mail, or not recognizing what it is enough to open it?

Not tacky BUT you run the risk of having to spend time reaching out to people to confirm a yes or no response should they not receive the email.

My friend just did this and I was asking her how her rsvps worked she said she got a lot back on the website instantly.
I dont think they were tacky at all. I found it easy I opened the email clicked the link and RSVP it was done. She said the grandparents and a few others they just called because they couldn't figure the email out lol.
But I dont think its tacky

Kind of tacky in my opinion. Also it could go to spam or people don’t check their emails so you will need to contact them when they don’t rsvp.

I don’t think it’s tacky just informal. If your wedding is casual it’s fine. If it’s semi-formal or formal I would send paper invites.

We did electronic RSVP’s, but sent our physical invites. I think anything bigger than a backyard bbq requires a physical invite. I got mine on vistaprint for cheap and it worked out fine!

I don't want to use the word tacky but personally I think it's super cheap. You can still do RSVP on your website instead of getting them mailed back to you, but I would go with paper invites.

I think the idea of evites are great coming from a sustainability perspective. We are definitely using them for our save the dates. Still discussing invites with my fiancé- he find the electronic version “cheap.” I have gotten several reactions of “who checks their email that closely?” when I’ve brought up using evites to friends.

This. Read this again. Pretend I said it.

Online RSVPs are a very reasonable option. However, email invitations are really risky.

If you aren’t going for a formal feel.
If you want to send out actual invitations check out Vista Print. They have really good prices.

We did our electronically. We had a rushed, super small backyard wedding. We let everyone know ahead of time what day we were sending the emails out. Then followed up a few days later. Worked like a charm!

We did electronic RSVP's and it worked out fine. I don't think it's tacky but I am sure you will find those who do - can't please everyone, do what you think it good!

I have been toying with electronic Save-the- Dates, but will definitely have paper invites.

We had a brunch daytime casual wedding (our wedding party was dressed up), and had physical save the dates and electronic invites and electronic welcome lunch invites.
All of our guests are pretty tech savvy and use the internet. Try Paperplesspost.com, it's got nice management tools and nice options.
