Are Dessert Tables Allowed?

Abby, on June 24, 2020 at 9:51 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Anyone know if COVID restrictions are allowing for dessert tables? I know buffets aren’t allowed but wasn’t sure about that

You'll probably need to put additional info like your location since restrictions vary widely.
In general, even if it's allowed by law, you may want to just consider ways to reduce people "clumping" at the table and limit potential for people to touch items they aren't eating/ bunch of people touching tongs and then putting back.
Maybe multiple tables to spread out and trying not to stack things where people need to handle items alot. Hope that helps

Depends where you are and if the venue has their own rules in place too. My venue is Wisconsin is allowing dessert tables but I’m on the fence about what to do just because of everyone’s comfort level.

We are in Wisconsin. We are having a dessert table. They are going to go up by table to get their desserts just like one would for being dismissed when they go to a buffet line. That way there aren't as many people up there at once.

It depends on your location. For us in Nevada, we're ok to do both and thats what we're doing for our wedding. And we'll even have about 130 guests. Our wedding is February next year so hopefully everything will run smoothly and we won't have to postpone. You should just contact your (or any) venue directly to see what the stipulations are. They should know.

I would ask your venue what they will allow because it varies so much.

I think they would be but maybe could have someone serve them similarly to how buffets are to be served by someone now a days

Hi Abby! It definitely depends on your venue - I'd ask them what their specific policies are!

I agree with everyone else - ask your venue. One alternative is having individual sample plates brought to each individual or to each table to minimize the touching/contact.
