Are 98% of bridal consultants rude, or do I just have "kick me" on my back?

Some vendors have an attitude of indifference towards brides, is that what you experienced? They think "If you want my services/products/etc you will buy them, if you don't then you aren't my target market." This is such a bad perception to have.

I think it is important to be helpful and interested in what your customer is saying, even if it has nothing to do with your business or why they need your services.

@Montara- That's exactly it! You can cross them right off your list.

No customer has the right to enter or call a store with a negative and selfish sense of entitlement just because they are the customer.

However, it is the store and it's employees that suffer most from an unbalanced show of respect and attentiveness to all their customers. Although It is very important for the customer to show the same level of respect that they expect, no customer should have to prove their worthy of that respect within the first few seconds or minutes of showing interest in the store.

Matara, 98% dissatisfaction with your search thus far is ridiculous. Keep crossing those suckas off the list. The dress that will make your heart and your man melt will be waiting for you:0

Word of mouth is a powerful thing. There are stores in this city that I advise people against because I walked in and did not even receive a simple greeting. And yes, they saw me. To me, that is the bare minimum of service I expect. I've worked retail and I still work in service and I have very high standards. I read a quote from a self-made millionaire where he said "50% of success is simply returning a phone call." Had that store wanted your business Montara, at the very least, they could offer to get your contact info and style numbers and phone you back.

I never feel entitled as a customer. I pretty much feel like everyone should treat everyone kindly lol. If you're not nice to me, I'm still going to be nice to you, but walk out quietly and never return.

@Tracy: I'm with you. We went to one store where the consultant just sent me off to look at dresses on my own, so she could devote all her attention to NotFroofy. She then totally ignored what NotFroofy said about our budget. And when she'd bring a dress to NotFroofy and NotFroofy would say, "No, I don't want this one, because it has X feature I don't like," she would bring three more dresses to NotFroofy, all of which would have X feature. Needless to say, we didn't buy from her.

The one we actually bought from asked for our sizes when we made the appointment. When we arrived, she had already pulled several dresses in our sizes to look at. Although she had never worked with a same-sex couple before, she understood immediately our desire to have coordinating dresses, and picked ones that would work well together. She also respected our budget, and showed us dresses that fell within it. When we decided not to buy veils there due to sticker shock, she kept our information and called us when there was a half-price sale on veils. We ended up buying both dresses and both veils from her.
