Arch or no arch?

Bee, on January 3, 2016 at 9:56 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Hey Ladies!

We're having our ceremony at a b&b that overlooks the Hudson River. The location has two wine barrels where we would be standing and is what we liked since we want the view to be unobstructed. However, every picture I have seen for outdoor weddings has an arch. Is it weird to not have an arch if it's an outdoor venue? What would you guys suggest as an alternative? We will most likely have an aisle runner so I'm not sure if it's weird to have a runner that doesn't lead to an arch. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the ceremony site alone that is clearer but here's one found from a different wedding on our site.

We are having an outdoor wedding as well, but with no arch. We are getting married under an oak tree, so I figure that is enough of an "arch!" But, I think with the picture you have above, some kind of arch would look nice, although I don't think it is a must. I've seen some really cool alternatives made from sticks/branches/twigs, rope, etc. If you are leaning toward having one, I would do some googling or pintrest searching to see what other options you have for materials to create the arch that would best match your venue setting.

My venue is similar with the chesapeake bay behind us. We are opting for no arch so it wont take away from the natural beauty of the site. The site is beautiful enough and doesnt need any decoration.

We are having one ONLY because it comes with venue. I would not spend money on one.

    It's not necessary, skip it.

Finally found a better picture! The ceremony will be at the ground/square closest to the river.

Yeah it really doesn't matter. I would skip it. That's a beautiful space!

That is too gorgeous of a view to obstruct. Skip it.

Great! Thank you all!! FH and I found the cost wasteful since the view is one of the reasons we chose this venue but friends have disagreed so I wanted third party opinions. No arch it is. Smiley smile

No arch. They wanted $1500 for something a kid can make at a middle school woodshop...I'll pass!
