Apron Dance: Tacky or OK?

Dana, on August 5, 2013 at 3:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

This seems to be the one thing that FH and I disagree upon! Can you ladies please weigh in?

What in the world is an Apron Dance? I've never heard of it!

I think you should do what you're family is use to doing or what you want to do. I've grown up going to weddings with dollar dances or apron dances and everyone thinks they're fine. That being said I'm not having one because I don't want too many organized dances. Already having father daughter and anniversary dance.

Definitely read the past post that Soonyee's links! That question can get just as heated as asking about cash bars.

It really comes down to your crowd and personal preference. Dollar dances are not common with my family so doing it would be rude.

Expect to get a lot of mixed opinions on this subject.

I think in Apron Dance differs from a Dollar Dance in that the bridge traditionally wears an apron over her gown for that portion of the reception (instead of someone like the best man collecting money, as he might for a Dollar Dance).

This is a hard question And wonder the same thing. I guess some would say its a bit Tacky because you are already receiving gifts and then asking for money. My Mother and Grandmother think its tradition. I just dont want to seem like Im begging. This is one of those things that depends on what the tradition is for your family.

It is not tacky if it relates to a culture you and/or FH are part of.

If it isn't cultural then yeah kind of.
