April or November

FutureMrsB, on March 6, 2015 at 6:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi all,

I just got engaged & we know we think we want to do April or November (in Orlando). We both live here but I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations?

Also this obviously would change our timeframe for planning. Does anyone have any suggestions for 12 month engagement vs. 18 month-ish?

Thanks all! Congrats on your engagements Smiley smile

I'm in the exact same boat as you!! Love the idea of a fall wedding for the colors and having it far away from her birthday/ valentines etc. BUT Fall of 2016 just seems so incredibly far away and I'm anxious!!!

I think the more time the better to plan your wedding. Fall weddings are beautiful mine will be in October in Ohio!

I have to disagree with @Lisa! I think the more time you take the more stressful it is. With a shorter engagement, you just make your decisions and stick with them! There's less time to second guess.

12 months is plenty of time to plan. My engagement is 5 months and I think even that is tons of time!

When we got engaged in October of 2013 I knew right away I wanted a May or September wedding. We opted for May 2015 to give us more time to save money, and get the vendors we wanted. (some book pretty far in advance)

Now I honestly wish we would have had a shorter engagement. While we got some great deals, I feel like time has been kind of dragging on and I am over obsessing about wedding details. I feel bad because if someone does ask me how planning is going I don't have much to say. They may think I don't want to share my details with them, but really I just don't feel like gabbing about it.

I live in New York, so for us, an April wedding has an entirely different landscape than a November wedding (April -- flowers are just starting to bloom, things are turning green, buds everywhere -- maybe even cherry blossoms...November -- end of fall, crisp, cold air, pumpkins, etc.). I suspect Orlando is pretty much the same in either month, with minor temperature fluctuations. That being said, your decor can be whatever you want it to be.

In your case, I'd make it a budgetary issue. Most areas of the country have their off season for weddings. For us, it's the winter months. That's when you'll get a better deal with venues. I couldn't really find a definitive off season for Orlando, but I thought this thread from last year might help you:
