Just Said Yes June 2020

April 4th wedding

Kathleen, on March 13, 2020 at 10:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
My wedding is in 22 days. Everything is paid in full. I haven’t cxled yet but the grooms family is flying across the country. Many have already canceled. What type of push back should I expect from the vendors being used if I try and move the date?

I would hope the venue and all vendors are understanding to the Pandemic and you just have to choose a new date. All the best try not to stress. Reach out to them ALLL tomorrow and the decide.

Breathe! All of our vendors were understanding and honored the same services for a new date. Check with your venue first, get some dates, then check with the others. Even if you push ahead, you'll feel better having a plan b in case things do get that bad. It also helped us to have a list of people we had to have there, top being our moms. Mine is fine, but his is in bad health and definitely staying put. So we were able to transfer to a new date, albeit with lots of emotions.

My parents can go. His mom is still coming but being given a lot of flack from family members. Should I attempt to postpone? Is that the right thing to do or could the hysteria die down in 3 weeks or will it be worse?!

I’m so sorry. I did cry today for the 1st time. More overwhelmed with the pressure. I also have put off going back to work until after the wedding and extended travel after. Have you spoken with vendors yet

Here's how I thought about it: even if it calms down some and everyone more or less comes, will they even have fun? Or will it be several hours of everyone keeping their distance and eyeing shared utensils? To me, it just makes more sense to have the same day later. Heartbreaking, but we knew we wanted all our family there and didn't want to risk anyone getting sick just to see us get married. I say, given the current trend, you might want to consider postponing. It's been a relief to me to stop refreshing news to hear if they're making weddings get cancelled. But only you and your fiance can make that call! It's not easy and a lot of brides are grabbing with the uncertainty. But given current trends, I would leave it on the table and plan a plan b with your vendors.

Most places are very understanding about the current situation. If you need to postpone then ask their next availability and coordinate.
