April 2020 Brides

Courtney, on December 8, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 19
Is anyone else starting to stress out or is it just me? I suppose I've been under the impression that we still have a lot of time left and I guess we do, but in actuality it really isn't that long!

I've seen two people over the past two days that have said....not much longer now! I guess it is really sinking in that it is about to be 2020.
I feel like I've got a lot done, but I also feel like I'm not prepared. I still have to finalize the food for reception and rehearsal dinner and make payment on that. My aunt is doing my flowers so I need to talk with her. My plan is to really kick it all into gear after the holidays. Sending out wedding invitations first week of February. Second dress fitting in February.I don't know why I have started stressing out, but I want everything to go perfectly. I feel like I am going to forget to do something!

I'm an April 4th bride, and there's a lot of time still left! Sounds like you're right on track. We're in about the same place - everything booked but can't get to minor details until closer to the date. Your day will be amazing- just let yourself realize that the most important part is getting married. All of the other details will fall into place.

Lol yes I know there's a lot of time left, but it doesnt really feel like it. I guess it is just the reality of that 2019 is almost over. I've also been focusing more lately on the honeymoon and not so much the wedding. But like you said, I've pretty much got everything done. Its just all of the details that have to come together.

I feel you! I realized this was my second time last time flying with my old last name, and it was kind of an "oh wow" moment. We just booked our honeymoon to take advantage of end of year deals, and I'm super excited! I think part of what has me relaxed is that I don't even have my first fitting until February. Hopefully my dress still fits - I've lost about 20 pounds since I bought it. That's where my anxiety is lol

Lol yes I can relate to that too! I went in on Friday and my dress fit, but my cap sleeves were too short. This will be the 3rd time to order them, but I'm glad I was able to go in early to get that taken care of. The first ones were discontinued and then these are too short 🙄😂.
I have been making payments on my wedding pictures and I sent one in the mail yesterday. The next payment will be my last payment and will be in 2020!

We have one more venue payment, then we need to finalize the menu with the on site catering. I am slightly terrified that my dress will be too big, and it's a sleeveless ballgown designed to be snug. I wanted to put in a corset back anyway, but given my weight I might not have much choice. 😬 there's so much that could go wrong, and I have to wait a month to see it.

We have two more photography payments as well ad the rest of the florists costs. It feels like a lot still, but that's because we're in that lull where everything you need to do well ahead of time is done and you can't really start on details. I may go bake to keep myself from finding more stuff on Etsy lol

Girl, I'm right along with you! I am actually panicking lol. Everytime I see the year 2020 I have a slight panic attack lol. I think it's the fact that we're literally a few months away. Granted we have four months (4/26/20), I couldn't be more nervous. At this point all we have left to pay is the DJ and last half of the venue, but making sure I have everything to fulfill my vision is killing me. As you said, I just want everything to be perfect and I know that's not being realistic. All I can do is pray for the best and carry on.

We have to pay for DJ too and I still have to finalize my cake details and pay for that. We have my aunt doing the flowers, my cousin is doing my makeup, and one of our friends is making the groom cake. I guess that is really what I'm stressing out about the most. I want to feel comfortable in asking these people to help, but I'm scared since they are family or friends they're gonna back out on me at the last minute. I always worry about things like that.

I think once you have a supportive group you have nothing to worry about, but if it is something that you're stressing about, just have a plan b to be safe. They know that this will be one of the most important days of your life, so they should have your best interests in mind. However, I rather over plan than under plan. A backup for the backup lol.

Stress comes in waves for sure! April 11th bride here. Today I sent myself into a stressed out mood by worrying about how/ where to seat everyone and seating charts ... even though I haven't even sent out invites yet and RSVP isn't until the middle of March. Yep. Did that.
It's getting so exciting and real being 4 months away!

Scary cause FH and I still need to find a place to live before then!
Everything else is good though, still under budget and getting excited to do more DIY projects

You're already doing dress fitting? I wonder if i should too but i feel like its too early. This way I know if i should order little extra things for my dress. When i call to ask, they all say i should schedule it in February, but now im thinking maybe i should move it to next month lol.

They told me to come in December and they would need 3 full months before wedding to get it altered.

Hitting my anxiety too! Is it David'a bridal? They told me the beginning of February, but I kind of want to move it to January to ease my anxiety and so I know I have enough time for changes.

No it is a local bridal salon. They told me I could come at the beginning of January and still have enough time to get everything done, but could come in December as well. They said I will go back at the end of February now.

I got my dress at this local boutique. I called another place to get different prices and they told me February too. I just want to get it done. Plus i want to see the final product, you never know lol. I was watching this youtube video and davids bridal literally waited to do her alterations, those were done like a day before her wedding. She was just crying. I would too lol.

Oh my gosh! I would cry too! I'm so ready to see the final product and see how it is actually suppose to fit! The top of my dress is too big right now, but they pinned it the other day and it looked so much better.

I started to freak out a little a few weeks ago because within a week I was booking my hair & makeup trial, setting a date and theme for the bridal shower, and FH's mom was wanting to know a date for everyone to go to a chocolate making class (her version of a gift-less bridal shower, I wouldn't consider it a shower, just a pre-wedding activity). I just thought of everything left to do. I made a list and it's not bad. 90% of the list is buying things and can't do that until I have money to buy it. Haha. So I'm not freaking out anymore, especially after my bachelorette party last weekend! My main concern right now is waiting until FH gets his next paycheck so we can go buy materials needed to make our invitations, then set up a day with family to make and assemble them so that we can get them out in February.

Also, I think FH's mom is stressing and freaking way more than necessary because FH told me she was wanting the florist bill and her part of the catering bill. When FH told her that she wasn't getting any of that closer to the wedding and after we send out invites, she was asking when the invitations would be sent out, acting like they needed to be sent out like yesterday or something.... *eyeroll* I know it's been a while since she got married and she wants to have everything done yesterday, she needs to take a chill pill. Haha.

Yes I need to type a list of addresses and give to my co-worker who will be addressing my envelopes with calligraphy. I want to try to get invites sent out 1st week of February.
Are yall sending out invites for the bridal shower? My MOH seems to think that a FB invite group will suffice, but I'm not so sure.

My dress is also a little big in the bust area and way too long. Sometimes i feel like its meant for a 6ft tall person lol. I'm 5'3", so i cant wait to see how it will look. I'm scared of loosing all the detail but i'm hoping I find someone who will not take too much out.

We are sending invites for the bridal shower. My MOH is ordering them.

I would probably be okay with FB invites for the bridal shower, but I also think actual invitations are a little more formal.
