April 18th Bride, made the tough decision today!

Lauren, on March 14, 2020 at 10:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Today my FH and I made the tough decision to postpone our wedding in 5 weeks due to the national emergency we are currently under. We want our wedding to be a joyous affair and although no one formally cancelled we felt the responsibility to postpone our wedding. We live in the Bay Area in California and would be traveling to Charlotte, NC (my hometown) to marry. We have family of all ages and backgrounds travelling as well as guests from Europe. We could not imagine getting married making the choice of continuing on in the face of this disaster. We made a personal choice that a week ago you could not have told me I would make. I originally thought to go ahead with the wedding regardless. Even some of our older guests said they would wear masks but ultimately we did not feel right with that decision after this evolving situation! I never thought we would have to reschedule our wedding.

Everything was going well and there had been no issues with planning up until now. Rescheduling is every brides worse nightmare with coordinating a new date with vendor, possibilities of loosing deposits, and untangling contracts. We have the best team around us though and our wedding planners have been so amazing! They helped us make the decision. Anyone in Charlotte, NC please contact me for info.
Long story short, everyone is banding together. We do not have a new date yet but hope by Monday to be able to contact essential vendors to narrow down availability. I hope we can still get married this year but 2021 is on the table as well. Keeping in mind other 2020 brides who already have their original dates in place.
Very tough decision but I'm marrying the man of my dreams and he has really kept me sane thru all of this. My mom got better and my wedding planners were all shocked how calm I was. Thanks to my FH he stepped up and handled everything. He immediately went into crisis management since this is our new normal. I am so in love with this man!

Keep everyone posted on how everything goes with our new date.

Sending you a lot of good vibes!!! Its not an easy situation to deal with, and I'm so sorry that you're dealing with all this stress. Sounds like you found a keeper though, and that's the important part. Much love! Good luck with the replanning.

    Not an easy decision!

Could you postpone for at least 3 months? It’s likely going to get worse here before better! Hate for you to have to reschedule a 2nd time. 😢 Rescheduling for at least 6 months might be better.

I agree we are most specifically looking at June or September (keeping in mind June maybe too soon and September is hurricane season) we are getting married outdoors. It's a scary thing to think about having to reschedule again. Everything is so fluid we just dont know what to do but feel better to reschedule in general.
