Appy Couple

Future Mrs. Holz, on April 25, 2016 at 10:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 30

Has anyone as a bride OR as a guest used Appy Couple? Was it functional?

I think if my guests could download an app they'd be much more apt to use it than going to a website.

Let me know what you think! Happy Monday!

We're using Appy Couple for our wedding! I did some research and liked the app idea, as well. I agree, that most of our friends and family will use the app vs going to the website. Even if they did go to the website, they would probably go on their phones.

The things I like about the app are:o

    - once they login one time, they don't have to keep logging in

    - we can also send out messages and they would get alerts

    - photo stream the day of (im not a huge fan of the wedding hashtag although I feel like its necessary)

Ask around before making assumptions about app vs website. The guests your age probably prefer it, but what about those your parents or grandparents' age? Don't make assumptions based only on your friend group.

@emilyg or maybe not make assumptions that I have grandparents or what my age is. Just saying, a LITTLE presumptuous there. Hence why I'm asking around on WW. I think your answer in particular needs a little thought.

I know my family's demographic and age group- that's why I think the app would be a great idea. My parents are the ones who actually suggested it, I wanted to see if anyone has used it

Thanks WWLynnie and Tina! I appreciate the information! And I also like the photo streaming aspect-

My family does a lot of Facebook and Instagram so I think something like that would be really useful and well accepted! Ps my parents are almost 60 too! They said its so much easier having all the info right on their phones in a simple app Smiley smile

I'm with her FMWebb, we old people get a lot of bashing for being behind on technology. Plus there were a lot of assumptions. I see both sides of it, emilyg was wanting to be helpful Smiley smile

I am using it for our destination wedding. I think it has a function where you can email people too in case they don't download the app.

YES!! We decided to use this because we are having a DW with events leading up to the wedding & we thought this would be great so that our guest cld have the app & be able to pull up our itinerary.

I love that it has tons of designs with the flexibility for you to add widgets to your page. Guest can also upload photos from the wedding under the gallery. You can also print out table cards for your reception. It's tracks all of your RSVPs for your event and there is also an option for you to export the list. You are able to send all your guest the wedding info in one click & you are able to view when they have read the invite to the site.

I love the freedom of being able to design/customize it to your liking. I can't say enough about this site/app! It's freaking AWESOME! Our guest love the ease of it as well.

I just thought of something else! :-)

I love the fact that I can set up multiple events and choose who can see them. For example, you can put the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and choose who sees it/is invited. I love that feature as well!

We did a website and honestly a bunch of people didn't even view the website or know that we had one (there was a website link written out on the save-the date, so don't ask me how they didn't know lol). I think it depends on how interactive and such your guests will be with the website and what information you plan on putting on there.

I feel like family and close friends may use the app, but other guests, who may not be as involved in the wedding and your life, may not want to be bothered.

That being said, I have no idea if there's a cost associated with the app or how it functions. Just wanted to add my input!

My cousin used it. My mom had to create an account for both her AND my step dad to RSVP to them both. She was so annoyed she ended up calling the groom's mom to RSVP verbally because after 20 minutes she was done.

I do however love their themes.

Ki C, love that! I think that would be useful 100%!

Courtney H- I know that my family personally would definitely go more for an app instead of a website. That being said, our wedding is mostly family that are definitely involved and would be using it for like out of town info- that kinda stuff. And yes, it's just under $40 I believe for the service. I know there's plenty of free websites, but part of me thinks the app will just work in our case. But I think one of the features is that you can choose who actually receives notifications so if you're just a friend I wouldn't have to bother you with mindless stuff hahaha. But I see what you're sayin!

Anytime I see anyone post about Appy Couple, I make it a point to add my comment. Love the idea of the app. Love the designs offered for the app. BUT it does not work for my Galaxy S6 (and possibly other Android users). Also, I noticed for the design I chose, it does not show well on the website. I was disappointed with that. App design is beautiful and the website looks plain (same design). I downloaded the app to my friend's iPhone and it worked beautifully! I was shocked at how different it looked and operated on hers. Downloaded it to my FH's android (same phone as mine) and same problems. With that said, I am highly upset that it's not functional across the board and really surprised since this is what they are promoting....the app! I have been in communication with tech support. They have been very responsive, but pretty much dragging on for at least a month stating they are working on an update to roll out that will fix the multiple glitches I was experiencing. Fast forward, I got the update and the app works better but still one main glitch is not fixed. I have, since, asked for a refund. I don't plan on ever using this app/website, not knowing for sure that it will work on every cell phone device over the next 8 months until my wedding...Hope this helps. good luck!

Oh I forgot: While I was playing around on my friend's iPhone with the app, I had to add her name, email, etc before I was able to get in the app. I viewed every aspect of my personalized app and realized afterwards that Appy Couple sent me a text asking for me to "approve" her to view the app. AND the friend got an email on her end stating something about getting approval to view the app. HOWEVER, I was able to view everything without any "approval". I thought that was strange. Sounds like they have securities in place, but they aren't working lol.

Good tips guys! Luckily everyone is an iPhone user in our family (no green messages Hahahaha) so I think that aspect would go smoothly.

In regards to RSVP, I am a little old school and would want the RSVP in the paper format simply for my own peace of mind. I like the idea of RSVP on the app, but I think personally I would feel better about paper. But who knows, my mind could change a billion times before then!
