Appropriate first dance song?

I think that whatever feels right for the two of you is the way to go. Because then you'll be happy about it.
Personally, I don't find it inappropriate. I mean, I hear what you're saying, but I feel okay with it. I don't think Id think twice if I heard it at someone elses wedding. Id be focused on the two of you.

I really don't think guests pay too much attention to lyrics during those moments. They watch the couple dancing, and hopefully enjoy watching the love between you two. The music is incidental, and probably won't be remembered, except by you two.

Dance to whatever you want to dance to, no one even noticed our song, we didn't notice anyone else around us either. It was my favorite part of the wedding, make it a great part and do what you want!

If that’s the song you want then go for it! I think unless you are doing a very over played love song most people won’t pay attention to the music which is a good and bad thing lol. The only songs I remember being played during the 1st dance are the ones that are over played and make me roll my eyes because I’m so done with that song. Don’t worry to much of what others will think

If the song speaks to you guys as a couple and it moves you every time you hear it I think its absolutely the right song for you. I think people will be so focused on you and him that they wont really be listening to every word of the song!

You need to be focused on what the song means to you as a couple.

The first song we chose is kind of heavy in some parts and people might think it isn't appropriate for a first dance...but. It speaks to us and has meaning to our relationship and that is what matters

Dance to what you want. The first dance is about your relationship to each other. Choose something that really speaks to you guys - not based on your guests. Most people are too busy watching you two be cute and in love over listen to the lyrics.

If you love the song, then use it. Most guests don’t pay attention to the first dance and don’t analyze the lyrics unless it’s known to be controversial.
