Appliquè Search

As asked before about adding appliquè to my bridal gown i did ask the seamstress when i went back and she told me to bring my dress to Joann fabrics to match it.

i was a little taken back, that they wanted me to carry my wedding gown throughout different fabric stores to find a match- my gown is a Galina signature made by davids bridal.

what do i do?has anyone heard of this?

I am having too much time during this lockdown. Having my wedding renewal postponed over a year makes me plan to add a few things to my dress by myself. I have low cut neckline which everyone said okay, but I feel a bit insecure. I don’t take my dress around, but I am shopping online to find appliqués that matches my dress. Etsy has tons, btw. I even think of trying to learn and create something if I can’t find it. I am too picky 😩

However..... Seamstress should be able to suggest and give you options on that. But letting you shop the appliqué yourself? I never heard of that.

If you want to find the best match, you will have to literally hold it up against your gown to make sure it matches. You could buy a bunch of swatches at the store and bring them home to see, but that will waste some time and money.

Were you expecting the seamstress to find the fabric? If so, she would also need to take your dress with her. She probably doesn't want the liability of carrying it around.

Ah. I don't know anything about David's bridal or using an in-house seamstress. Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.

Since you bought it at David's Bridal, can't they get in touch with the manufacturer and send you the matching appliques. I did that for mine and the appliques took 3 months.

If you're paying for a service you should get what you want within reasoning. You shouldn't have to drag your dress around the world for a match. Speak to the manager about your options.
