If there's a short gap until lunch/dinner, I think fruit, veggie, and deli trays should be fine!

If you’re having a cocktail hour, yes, you should serve apps. If you don’t need to do photos and can go directly from the ceremony into dinner, you can skip them.

Honestly, no. We had a cocktail hour and no passed apps/hors d'oeuvres. The mean was HUGE and had a ridiculous amount of courses, so it was not worth our investment. Our guests didn't mind one bit.

The appetizers are the best part of every wedding I've ever been to. It's often the first time I've eaten all day. In our house we are running around getting ready and ironing clothes preparing for the event. I would be very hangry if I didnt get a lil snack.

Which btw, by lil snack I mean it could be pretzels, cheese tray, chocolate kisses in a bowl at the bar. Anything. Doesn't need to be an investment, just a lil something.

I love appetizers. We went to a wedding where the reception started at 3 and dinner wasn't served till 5:30. I was starving, since the ceremony was at 2 and we had to travel for it. I ended up going up to the hotel room and making a sandwich. So yes in my opinion appetizers are a good idea. But I also agree it depends on your timeline and how long between ceremony and reception/ dinner is served.

I agree with little! I've seen people fill up those glass serving jars with favorite snacks like pretzels, popcorn, candy which works just fine!

I would say if you have a cocktail hour then yes. People drink so much at weddings that you need them to have food! Also if people are waiting around, appetizers make people less bored/grouchy. But if you are skipping straight into dinner and dancing, they can 100% be skipped

I think it all depends on the amount of time between the ceremony and the meal. I would see about having pretzels and cheese or crackers and cheese and olives if you can swing it. That way people have a little something to munch on.

For cocktail hour? Yea but a cheese and veggie tray will suffice.
For dinner? Nope go right into the meal.

I agree, I love cocktail hour the best: the mingling, a drink & yummy appetizers (I’m fine with a meat & cheese platter).

But if the ceremony leads right into brunch or dinner, then “no snacks” are ok.

My mom in law really wanted them because she was worried people would be hungry before dinner serves. However I didn't think it would be necessary if the time in between wasn't that long and if the meal we plan to serve was huge

I am currently wondering about this too! Do most people agree upon snacks like popcorn, crackers, candy, etc. will suffice??
