Appetizers or no appetizers?

Amanda, on March 9, 2020 at 11:35 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I’m having my ceremony at one venue & I have the space from 12-3pm. & then my reception is at a restaurant very close to the ceremony venue. The guests are requested to be at the restaurant at 3:30pm & we have the space until 6:30pm. We are going to do a buffet for dinner & dinner will be served around 4-415pm. We are having trouble deciding if we should serve any appetizers prior to serving the buffet. Any suggestions?

I am also doing a buffet and am not having appetizers but only because my ceremony is at 4 and dinner is at 6. I think it will be fine for guests to wait. However, yours is a longer time till dinner so I think it would be good to have appetizers.

I’d have something at first site unless it’s a brief time that you plan on being there.

I think it’s ok to skip the appetizers since you’ll have a buffer

I am always pro-appetizers! If you have the money in your budget, it doesn't hurt.

I agree that if its in your budget it definitely doesn't hurt. But I think if its only a 30 minute wait between when they get there and when food is served I think you could skip it.

I am not doing appetizers but we plan to go straight from the ceremony into dinner. We're doing all photos before and will sign the marriage license, bustle my dress, and go to the reception immediately after. This should give everyone time to find their table and grab a drink from the bar. I think 30 minutes is short enough of a time frame to skip the appetizers.

It's not clear from your timeline when your actual ceremony start and end time is. Are you ending at 3?

I don't think appetizers are necessary. You're feeding a plentiful buffet so they will be fine.
