Appetizer suggestions

Kathryn, on November 14, 2019 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
So we went to our tasting last night, and the two appetizers that we had originally picked - mac and cheese bites and bacon wrapped stuffed chicken- were not a hit with us. Going back to the menu, we might be able to sub in a tasty quesadilla for the mac and cheese bites, but my bigger question is....this food isn't for us. It'll be going around at cocktail hour. That being said, should we pick something more crowd friendly like shrimp/fish tacos? We're having a noon ceremony, so this will be more of a more luncheon cocktail hour. Since we'll be taking pictures, does it make more sense to have lighter fair like the shrimp or chicken bites? We're having a buffet after.

What are all your options? I understand where you’re coming from cause what i would pick I don’t think is necessarily what the majority of my guests would pick. We’ve got our food tasting on Saturday and I also think apps will be hard to decide on

No matter who the food is for you still want it to be right. I think if you like the quesadilla then go with that.

Since its just appetizers until you're done getting photos taken I would do something more crowd friendly. They're going to be eating soon after anyways.

I’m allergic to shellfish so I always consider that, but if you let people know, the tacos sound yummy.

We have a few shellfish allergies, so I was hesitant to add the shrimp. I forgot to mention that we're having a french fry display as well, so maybe we should throw in the shrimp as a lighter/healthier option. Guessing people won't care as much as I am, but there's a reason I want the mac and cheese station to be where I can chow down!

I'd steer clear of shrimp tacos if you have a bunch of shellfish allergies among your guests. What are your other options?

There's the quesadilla my FH fell in love with, which we'll probably do instead of the mac and cheese, but there are a lot of other options as well! Things like cheese tarts, a duck breast bite, mushroom caps. We're not super fancy, so we were hoping to keep cocktail hour a little lowkey! My fh's family has the shellfish allergies, so I think to be safe we should go with the chicken. Part of the reason we weren't partial was because of the pepper Jack cheese, but the caterer did say we could change it up.

We're doing 4 appetizers for cocktail hour. A mini chicken sandwich, mini bbq veggie burger, bacon wrapped dates, and a samosa. Bruschetta and mini-tacos or quesadillas is always a good choice!
