Appetizer for cocktail hour

Spark, on January 23, 2022 at 12:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 8
To save money i kept simple and chose fruit, veggie, cheese tray. I'm a foodie though. I'm struggling. I want more. Any suggestions for an affordable upscale appetizer menu? Maybe I'm over thinking.

Have you talked to your caterer to see what they offer in your price range?

I've heard of some places/caterers letting you add meat with your cheese tray so you can ask about that. Also, keep in mind that during cocktail hours us when you'll be doing photos so there is a good chance you wont even be at cocktail hour.

What I'd instead of spending the extra money on upgrading the food, is having a brunch during the time we are getting ready.

Definitely speak with your caterer! They will usually offer cocktail hour options in a broad price range. I’ve seen different types of meatballs, gourmet deviled eggs, bruschetta, etc. offered in the lower price range.

What does your caterer offer? Cheese and crackers doesn’t do a lot to keep people from getting drunk.

We are still finalizing our cocktail menu, but we are leaning towards:

    • Mini Quiche Lorraines
    • Teriyaki Beef Skewers
    • Mini Cordon Bleu Bites
    • Mushroom Caps (Stuffed With Crabmeat)
    • Caprese Salad Skewers
    • Fruit Kabobs
    • Spinach & Artichoke Dip (With Chips)

If food is something you enjoy in life and quintessentially you, I'd allocate more funds here than other wedding details. I agree with the other poster, fruit and cheese may not keep your guests satiated or sober during cocktail hour and could create crowding. What else can your caterer offer?
