APB on Hourglass for Sand Ceremony

Kmess, on September 30, 2015 at 1:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

FH and I majorly procrastinated on choosing a unity ceremony because nothing was really striking us. We decided that doing a sand ceremony with an hourglass would be really nice, but holy crap the fill-yourself hourglasses people are selling are expensive, like starting at $150 for a 7 inch high one. I've been googling like crazy but to no avail. Has anyone come across a more economical one in their travels? Also, anyone seen an hourglass at home goods or elsewhere recently? I wonder if we could empty out an already filled one....

Oriental trading HAD one but they've been out of stock for ages: http://www.orientaltrading.com/sand-ceremony-hourglass-a2-13696681.fltr

I just saw a cute hourglass at Barnes and Noble yesterday (in the store, not online). It was red though -- not sure about your colors and honestly, I don't know what a sand ceremony is nor how an hourglass is used in it, so there's that.

But I did see an hourglass at the bookstore so...maybe check out B&N?

Thanks so much Lively, I'll go check that out. A sand ceremony is when you have two different colors of sand and the bride and groom pour them together into another vessel. In this case the vessel would be an hourglass Smiley smile

A wedding IS a unity ceremony...... why do people stress about these? Honestly, when I see them and they don't have to do with blending families (ie, step kids), I think they're ridiculous.
