Anyone using or familiar with Classic Photographers?

Ang, on May 25, 2017 at 6:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So I've been researching photographers and came across Classic Photographers. For anyone who doesn't know, they're a national company who hires photographers across the country. You give them your date and they send you a list of photogs in your area available on your wedding day, and you can view their work and select the one you want. Their prices are really good and all, and they have a plethora of good reviews.

But, I'm skeptical. Is anyone using them or have had them in the past? It just seems really impersonal. A review I read said they didn't have a lot of contact with their photographer before the day but they were still satisfied, etc... It's intriguing because I'm definitely the one-and-done kinda person and I hate having to meet and contact a crap ton of people. Thoughts?

    Bump.

If no one here has heard of them or used them then maybe this isn't such a good idea. Lol.

I really wouldn't hire through a company. I've heard so many bad stories and that's why I only looked out independent photographers.

Only use one of those national companies if you are ok with a crapshoot, and don't care about hand picking your artist. It's a shortcut I think you'd live to regret, because I see you understand the risk and drawbacks. You get out what you put in.

In case you couldn't pick up on it, I don't like those photo mills.

Anytime! Have you identified your identity for your wedding and specific needs? As well as styles of photographer you like, experience you want to have with them? I'd search and ask for recommendations local to you, look through their work and blogs online...and narrow down to 3 who you want to meet with / talk to more. Sending 8489 emails asking for prices without researching a little will make it a less productive and more exhausting process. Working smart in the end saves time, let us know how we can help.

I guess part of me wants to have faith because I also work for a large company in a skill-based industry, and I get looked down upon a lot just because of where I work, even though I'm good at what I do. So I guess it makes me think somewhere in the back of my mind that these photographers are in my same shoes! If that makes sense.

Anyways, all I really know about what I like is a photojournalistic style. I'm not the biggest fan of lots of posed shots. That's about it. That, and I'd like to stay as much on the lower end of my budget as possible. I know I get what I pay for. Photography is important, but to me guest experience is most important so I'm trying to save where I can so I can put as much money as possible into food/drink etc. Back to the drawing board! Thanks, again!

Some may be....others maybe not. The wedding isn't a practice or trial run. Pay what you need to, to get a great product and experience, you'll be happy. Smiley smile

I only refer owner operators. There is no way a company can control aesthetics across the country.

I don't know them, I've never heard of them.
