I know there are tons of threads on here about people who have had to cut back on items, limit their guest lists, forfeit certain activities, etc. for their weddings due to Covid19.... but have any of you gone the other way?? Maybe postponing has allowed you to save more money and actually ADD things to your wedding- more decor, More guests, Entertainment at the reception? Maybe it has allowed you to upgrade things, like a better photography or videography package, a premium open bar, better food. Or perhaps allows you to afford things you weren’t going to be able to have on your original date, like your dream dress or honeymoon. Has the extra time given you the opportunity to reconsider and change certain items about your wedding?- maybe a different dress, color scheme, theme, invitations, etc.? There are so many sad posts about this unexpected situation... let’s change pace and share any of the positives that may have come out of it!

That is so epic!! My FH and I collect the Lemax Spooky Town Halloween village pieces and we just finished setting up ours for this year! We have two more pieces that are arriving sometime today to set up too! We want to be the couple in our friend group that throws the epic parties every holiday, so we try to go all out with lights and decor and ambiance. Thankfully we are moving into a bigger apartment in the spring so we'll have even more room for SPOOKY TIME! Smiley xd

I totally understand the date thing too! I wanted us to have our dating anniversary be the same as our wedding one, but unfortunately we live in Texas and May would be too hot already for a garden wedding. So we decided on our half anniversary, Nov28th! Our wedding day will be 4.5 years of us together! We used to be long distance and to count down the months until our next visit we would celebrate our "montha-versary" every 28th and so its super special to us. We still celebrate it every month with a date night or something fun!

I loooooove the Lemax Spooky Town displays! I keep saying I am going to start buying the Bradford Halloween collection, but the way our house is set up I just don’t have anywhere to put it! 😭 I’ve already told my fiancé that when we buy a new home, it has to be set up in a way that I can decorate for Halloween! Lol And I love the monthaversary! FH & I were long-distance for the first 2.5 years of our relationship, and would only get to see each other every other weekend. I totally understand celebrating the little milestones when you don’t get to see each other that often

They are so fun!! Technically we don't either lol...what is supposed to be our dining area is actually my craft room which has been invaded by Spooky Town soooooo yeah...Smiley xd

Awww thanks! We've been through a lot in our relationship. We are high school sweethearts and my family didn't (and still really doesn't) approve and we were banned from seeing each other outside of school, but he was a grade above me so we didn't see each other other than in-between classes and before/after school before leaving. We were only allowed to go on a date or hang out like 5 times, most of which were under direct supervision from my parents, in the whole two years I lived there. I moved back to my hometown (2,000 miles away across the country) two days after his HS graduation and we didn't see each other again until my graduation the following year. That fall I went to college and we finally were able to have a normal visit at thanksgiving when I flew down to see him! Then two weeks later after some major life issues I needed to get out and away from, I moved back to Texas and we got our own place and have been living ever since!

Sorry for my whole life story lol!

Yes there have been some positives from all of this. Instead of one wedding we got two which meant getting to try out different things for each. And I am thinking we may have to celebrate two anniversaries Smiley winking Even though we moved our big wedding to next year we moved up our actual legal wedding by 4 months. This meant that DH could move out of the barracks and I am able to visit him (we currently live in different states) more easily and we have a cute little apartment near DC.

Trying to figure out what to do about our original plans (120 person outdoor wedding, 9/26) was a nightmare of stress, but deciding to cancel our venue and do a 15-person backyard wedding on the original date has been the biggest relief for us. FH got the wedding he never knew he wanted when we got legally married at the county courthouse w/ 4 witnesses and had a fancy grilled cheese lunch afterwards (he only ever wanted to be married, not to do the whole wedding thing), and I still get the ceremony with friends and family in a few weeks!

    Other pros:

-We were very, very fortunate in getting our venue deposits refunded--huge savings. And hadn't secured any other vendors yet, giving us the flexibility to move the wedding to the city where my parents live.

-No longer held to venue-preferred vendor lists!

-Dramatically smaller headcount means huge savings on food & beverages while also getting to make some upgrades to the menu.

-We had mixed feelings about getting a DJ--no need for that anymore!

-With the new venue being the parents' backyard, we get unlimited venue access for set-up, rehearsal, etc. lol

My daughter's original date got postponed from June to August. When her original venue still couldn't open up by August, we found one even more beautiful that came with a day of coordinator and they cut the venue fee in half because so many brides were postponing and they were happy to have the business. They also upgraded several things free of charge (such as photo booth) and waived 125 person minimum fee. She had 85 guests and the day far surpassed her original vision.

I love this post. While Covid didn't have any real effect on our plans as we were already planning for 2021, I love to see how it's had a positive impact on weddings instead of how bad it's been. Whether it's saving money on not having to have additional guests or allowing you to save up more or splurge on things you otherwise would have skipped, this post & replies really is something amazing to see.
