Anyone taking a late honeymoon?

Mrs_17, on March 9, 2017 at 5:06 PM

Posted in Honeymoon 39

FH and I have decided to wait until next year since most of my family is coming from out of the country and they are planning to stay for 1 month. Anyone else taking a late honeymoon? and if you have, did it make it easier to plan and all? ETA: I'd love to keep hearing where you everyone is going!...

The two nights after our wedding we stayed in a fabulous hotel suite, then I recovered at home for a week! Weddings are freaking exhausting.

We did our honeymoon three months after our wedding! It was perfect. Gave us time to recoup financially after the very expensive wedding, something else to look forward to, time to pack for it/shop for it, time to lazily book restaurant reservations and excursions and spa stuff, and time to get settled into life as a married couple.

We went to Maui for 9 days. Loved it! Paradise!

We couldn't afford to go on a honeymoon right away after paying for our wedding. We also didn't want to wait any longer to marry as we had been together for twelve years already. So, we are going to Ireland on our one year anniversary. I can't wait!

Just thought I'd put this out there, the cheapest time to by flights is in the afternoon on a Tuesday about six weeks before your trip!

We are waiting 3 months. Getting married in June going on a cruise to Bermuda in September. It's impossible for me to take more then 2 days off in a row during the summer months because I'm low in seniority.

Yes! October wedding, but we're hoping to HM in Japan for around 10 days. I work in a school, so we'll probably wait till next June to go! Pro: don't have to plan wedding and HM all at once! And can use gift money to budget HM

Wedding in June, but due to schedules, we aren't taking our HM until September. We're spending 2 weeks in Japan. I'm glad it's working out this way, so we have something to look forward to after the wedding. So super excited!!!

We were originally planning a later honeymoon, but we figured having it just after the wedding. We'll be back before the holidays. Could pass up great prices to go to Europe! So excited!

So awesome to hear everyone's different plans. I agree with waiting and have something else to look forward to. I wish I could do a cruise but I would get so sea sick. Wishing you all an amazing HM and of course wedding too!!

We got married in January and are leaving for our honeymoon in Morocco tomorrow! I'm pro having a gap to extend that feeling of newlywed-awesomeness

Our mini moon will be a long spa weekend right after, and then a 2 week trip to Europe in September

We're going almost two months late, so not a really long time. We're getting married in June and I take the bar exam in July. So I'm going to study for two months and then be rewarded with our honeymoon to Niagara Falls!

We are going to Greece at the end of June. I wanted the kids out of school, so our family didn't have to worry about our crazy schedules.

    I'm so excited!

We are getting married Memorial Day weekend and we are honeymooning in November to the Dominican republic on a cruise. But we are doing a mini moon the weekend after for a 3 hour drive to the beach for 3 nights. Do what makes you happy. And if that means to push it off then push it off. No rush to honeymoon.

We are as well. We're getting married in September, but taking ours in January. Few reasons for that. 1. The fall is my busy time at work during football season (I'm an athletic trainer) 2. He will be out of vacation time, so instead of taking it unpaid we would rather wait. 3. It's cheaper off season! We're going to Niagara Falls for a few days after our wedding to enjoy some time away, and then we will come back and start saving and planning our honeymoon

Yep! We'll be waiting until January or February (at the earliest) to go on a real Honeymoon. Partially to have more time to save, and partially because FH's cousin is getting married 2 weeks after us on the other side of the country, and we can't afford to take almost an entire month off work. Plus then it's Holiday season. We'll be taking a 3 day trip to one of our favorite long-weekend spots after the wedding for our "minimoon".

We probably are... I mean, because of work, we can only take a vacation on january or february, so we are definitely waiting at least two months, but depending on how much we were able to save by june, we'll go on 2018 or 2019!, we've already talked and started to pay for our hotel, only plane tickets and extra to save for, but with all we're spending on the wedding and our future home, we may need to push it a year. Thanks heaven we were able to talk with the owner of the hotel (is managed by him and his wife) and they will work with us with the dates no matter if we can't go next year (we're going to Ushuaia, Argentina and those months are low season thankfully)
