Anyone skipping first dance?

Jessica, on September 2, 2019 at 9:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
I canceled my first dance because we have 11 days left and we still haven't gotten it right, and honestly I'm just done trying. I don't like to do the slow sway it really bothers me, so I was choreographing a dance for months but it's just a flop. I don't like all the attention anyway makes my aneixty rise. I was just wondering if anyone else skipped the first dance, is it weird to do that?

I think it’s all up to you and your fiancé and what you guys feel comfortable doing! It’s your day so you do not want to get anxious about it, it should be a magical moment between the two of youSmiley smile We cringe thinking about attention and all eyes on us, so we opted for a small destination wedding and we will be doing a first dance for half a song Smiley smile

You can always just sway for 30 seconds and open the dance floor up for guests.

We are taking lessons so I totally get that you dont want to sway - that was my biggest concern. However, it's a nice way to introduce the start of the partying 😁.

We're not doing a first dance, and actually all dancing at our wedding will be optional. We'll have music on a playlist and space if people want to dance, but neither FH or myself are big dancers so we're just not planning to do it at all. FH is also super uncomfortable with being the center of attention in general so dancing with all of our guests just sitting around watching would put his anxiety through the roof. Bottom line is, do what works best for you. No need to add to your stress for the day!

Hey Jessica! I’m really sorry that your choreography hasn’t gone to plan.

It’s totally fine to skip doing a first dance if that is what you wish to do. If you feel like you will be uncomfortable being the center of attention, perhaps you could ask other couples to join you in a special couples dance if you don’t want to skip it entirely.

It’s your day so you can totally do what you want!!
