Anyone having dress regrets?

Erin, on April 21, 2011 at 11:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

So my dress should be in any day now and I can't help but think maybe I made a mistake. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like I might of just picked it b/c of how much my sister and mom loved it. I always had envisioned a trumpet style and it's a a-line also we're getting married in the Dominican Republic and it's sort of heavy so I'm worried I'll be really hot. I thought about taking out some of the crinolin to help with heat, do you think it would look right still? Also, those who had dress regret, what did you do about it? Ahhh! I don't want to be feeling like this! I really really hope once I put it on again I remember why I picked it...

I had dress regret, which is hy I bought a 2nd dress. I only picked my first one because it was "such a great deal".

I started to because I had this other dress I really liked (at first) but I saw another bride wearing it and I wasn't as impressed as the pics made it to be. So I am happy with my decision.

I also picked my first dress cuz it was a great deal 99 bucks at DB, originally like 700, it was being discontinued. I reaally like it, it looked good on me..but i didn't love it..for about a month after I felt kinda bad about buying it..but then when my one slip came in, I tried it on with that and luckily fell in love with it..made it a bit poofier...i do think your dress looks amazing on! Is it possible to get a refund at all if you do end up going with a different one because of the heat? maybe for the reception you can change into a cooler dress/maybe do a drown the dress session in the cooler dress too? Good luck deciding! Maybe once you try it on again your doubts will change!

I am worried about mine. It is an empire waist and I am afraid that i will look pregnant in it(which im not!) so yeah i am kinda tempted to shop around more but i dont want to hurt my moms feeling because she loved it so much. so i am hoping that when i put it on again that i will remember why i choose that dress! so youre not alone!!

@Katherine N. yeah this was the only one out of the way too many dresses that I tried on, that my mom cried for, so I'm wondering if I just got swept up in that emotional moment... when's your dress supposed to come in?

@Ab Z. thanks, yeah no refundSmiley sad so that definitely is another problem... don't really want to waste the money. I suppose if I decide to, I could try to sell it online, but I wonder how long that could take. I do like your idea of a second (cheaper) dress would work for dealing with the heat!

Crossing my fingers that it doesn't come to this!!

@Erin, have you thought of buying a reception dress??? That way you could wear this one for the ceremony and get another lighter dress to wear for the reception? Just a thought.

I had a little bit of dress regret/anxiety because I ended up with a dress completely different from what I envisioned! First of all it's blush pink - so I was like am I going to regret this someday? Will it be horribly dated? Ahhhh! Also, lots more going on than I originally wanted, I wanted a very simple dress. And 3rd its a little heavy for a Hawaii wedding. But, I went back in tried it on and said screw it... I love it and it makes me feel good! I pray you have the same experience! By the picture it looks fantastic on you!

I went to 5 different places and ended up putting down a deposit on one at each of them (deposits are refundable)...so basically, i fell in love with a 5 different dresses, then decided i didn't like them anymore and moved onto the next one. But that's just how I am - pure case of buyer's remorse. on the 6th one, i started to do the same thing and then convinced myself out of it. I love it now.

I had regrets because I felt like my dress was too plain. Luckily the stars aligned and I was able to get a new dress with more bling but all the things I liked from the old dress too :-)

I had a little dress regret whenever I looked at the picture online (with the model in it). When it came in, I saw the dress on me again, and I felt amazing.

Consider doing some alterations to make it more "yours", shorten the train to make it lighter, take in around the waist/hips to make it "fit and flare".

I think everyone does at first. I know I did. I still do but its only for a dress that I know I can never have.

I had dress issues too... wondering if i picked the right one because i tried on 2 or 3 that i really liked. But every time i had the dress on i liked it more and more. The day of the wedding came and as soon as i had everything on i felt completely me in the dress. I think its a little normal, with as many choices as there are out there for wedding dresses

Yup I did have regrets for the same reason. My mom and sisters loved this ballgown that I tried on. It was on sale so I thought what the hey. But I kept having second thoughts so wanted to keep looking. I found the dress of my dreams at another shop when I came home for $2700. No way was I going to make my mom buy it for me - so I just sprung for it. Now, since my wedding is Halloween weekend, I'm going to change into the ballgown for the reception and wear a tiara. Smiley smile

Wow so I'm definitely not alone on this! I'm sure I didn't do myself any favors by trying on a TON of dresses.
