Anyone having a soloist during the ceremony!?

Haley, on July 5, 2013 at 3:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

If so what will they be singing? One of my girlfriends will be singing before the wedding and we need help picking a song for her to sing! She's got more of a country voice but was also going to pull off Etta James (my mom thought it was maybe too much for a church wedding) Doesn't have to be a religious song just something okay for a church. Does that make sense!?

Any and all suggestions appreciated!

We're not doing a soloist, but we are doing a harpist & violinist. I am walking down to Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka. Pick a song the showcases what you guys love and where in the ceremony it makes most sense. Maybe "At Last"?

She was going to sing At Last but my mom thinks it may be a bit much.... I don't think so but I want her to at least have a couple options.

My best friend sang in the middle of our ceremony. Longest 3 minutes of our lives while we just stood there and looked at each other while everyone looked at us! Oh, she sang "I'll Still be Loving You" by Restless Hearts (it was 25 years ago).

    You'll never walk alone

    The lord's prayer

    Pretty much any short hymn

    Ava Maria

I'm not a fan of soloists during the ceremony, but that's just me.

We will have soloists during the ceremony during the processional, reading and when we exit as Mr. & Mrs.

We will have have a solo violinist. The violin will only be playing while we are getting ready, and while the guests arrive & get seated.

Yes. I had one for mine and my daughter did for hers.

For mine (which was in a Church - him exs families as I am not religious) the song sung was "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg.

One of my grade school friends, who is a professional singer, sang at my daughters wedding (not in a Church). She sang Michael Jacksons "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as my daughter walked down the aisle. "Back to One" by Brian McKnight during the ceremony. And Etta James "At Last" as they walked back up the aisle.

I was a soloist at a wedding once... She had me sing "The Book of Love" by Peter Gabriel as she walked down the aisle. It was lovely!

Thanks for the ideas! She will actually be singing before the WP even walks out so no singing during the ceremony!
