Anyone have a lab grown diamond?

MS102017, on May 23, 2017 at 2:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Pros? Cons? (Not even sure I've ever heard of cons for lab diamonds..) At first I was thinking of just a plain wedding band and shifting the budget dollars to FH since he wanted something nice. But the more I think about it, the more I think I do want an eternity setting. Any recs for stores? I want to bring my research to FH so he doesn't freak out about losing his ideal band Smiley smile thanks!

I have a lab grown diamond for my center stone. There is no visible difference. We chose lab grown mostly because it was less expensive. Good luck!

If you are unsure about a diamond, definitely check out a moissanite. It's a lab grown meteorite and they are beautiful. It has a brilliant sparkle and is very hard ( almost as hard as a diamond) so it will hold up for day to day wear.

@Siberian - Did you find it online or was this a local shop? Just trying to gauge how much it'll cost us.

@Marianne - Thank you! It sparkles so much. Love it. Smiley smile

I was a jeweler for 2 years. I also have a moissanite, i'm in love. Absolutely no regrets! I bought mine at Helzberg Diamonds, some carry them in stores others you'll have to have them shipped to the store to see in person but i have a beautiful 2 ct. moissanite solitaire in a yellow gold band and no one has ever been the wiser. It was cheaper, nobody was hurt in the process and it's a 9.5 on the hardness scale, the next (and only) harder stone being a diamond, coming in at a 10. I don't recommend a white sapphire or a cubic zirconia, while they are both very economical they are very soft and will look foggy and blurry very quickly, they work great for earrings and necklaces but the hands take alot of abuse from the elements and it will show quickly. Also, check our the "amora gem x" Good luck to you!

ETA: Also, by eternity setting, do you mean shaped like the infinity symbol or diamonds around the entirety of the band? If the second I strongly recommend you look into them first, they're very tricky, the diamond sizes change based on the size of the ring so the carat weight stays the same. Also the diamonds fall out a lot ):

    My choice was moissanite.

I worked in the NYC diamond district for 3 years and my stone is prettier to me and more economical than any diamond I've seen.

I have a moissanite and I love it. It's my 2nd marriage, I had a real diamond but I always thought it was over priced and senseless. This time when fh and I were discussing rings I found this one, I think on Etsy and feel in love. I had to convince him that I wanted a moissy over a diamond.

I have a lab created diamond. It was less expensive and allowed us to get a better quality diamond.

My diamond is not a lab-created one, but my brother recently bought an engagement ring to propose to his gf and bought a lab-created diamond. One positive to it is you don't have to worry about any fair trade issues.

They're exactly the same, just not mined! I love mine, FH loved the price.

Four carats moissanite. It's beyond brilliant. Would have spent 50k if this was a traditional diamond.. highly recommended.

OP, we got mine from a local jeweler. I suggest visiting some jewelers in your area to assess what would be the best choice for you.

I love moissanite;so much I invested in the company stock, lol.....cruelty free and beautiful, but I think there is something really nice about the organic quality of it too.

I have one I use when I travel. I got it from QVC big difference when you put them side by side but, IDK if they are all that way.

My diamond is lab grown. Everyone assumes it is real and I've never had any issue with it. It allowed us to get a ring that I truly LOVED and felt special wearing without blowing any aspect of our budget.
