Anyone had experience with David's Bridal.... getting a Corset Back

\m/ ^ ^ \m/, on July 23, 2010 at 11:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Put into your dress?

.

I want to add a corset back into my dress, badly.

But don't know how much it costs.

And my FS took my cell to work with him because his is shut off so I can't call. LOL.

When I went to David's Bridal I was told that they couldn't really do anything to the dress and that is a big change! But they are usually there until like 8 or 9 I would just call when he gets home!

Find a seamstress. Mine would have been $100 (but I opted out). DB is in the range of $500, from what I have seen.

No Alterations at DB, they are way over priced. Please find a seamstress

Mine's only $40, but then again I'm going to a family owned bridal shop..in a small town. You don't HAVE to go to DB. Call around to other bridal shops in your area and get quotes and make sure you ask if they can do it to dresses you didn't buy there..and also call seamstress' around your area too. You don't have to go to DB for it to be done.

Sph, I wouldn't pay that price for a Corset. LOL. My dress is only $249.. I just worried it's going to be too snugg. I am supposed to start major dieting August 1st. We'll see what happens. LOL. If I don't reach my goal, I'll just have to wear a snugg bodyshapper with my bustier Smiley smile Thanks ladies.

I'm guessing DB wont' make that big a change to their own dress. They wouldn't even shorten my train and add cap sleeves to mine.

I also hear their alterations are crazy expensive compared to a seamstress that works out of her home. I found an amazing one of Craigslist 6 months ago and have been using her for stuff like crazy since!

If that is what you want to do then I definitely agree with the other ladies, find a seamstress!

I found a dress at davids bridal and wanted to put one in and they told me I can't cause they don't do custom designs.... so what u pick is what u get unless u take it some where else..... davids bridal won't do changes to their dresses unless its real real little

I am not intending to offend anyone here but on their website they do customer designs and will insert a Corset back... and put on sleeves... and heim or lengthen/take off length from a gown. I guess everyone else has had bad experiences with them from what I've heard, but the one here by me is amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I think my sister is heiming mine up with pins so that after the wedding I can take the heim out and re-sell though, so I am not looking for someone to heim it.. I'll let it drag, I don't really care.. I am making sure the venue is swept and mopped the night before anyhoe. LOL.

DB has specific contracts with the designers which limit what they can do to certain dresses. I've been looking for my summer wedding next year and I want "short" either cocktail or tea length and there are some dresses that they cannot do that to.
