Anyone had a lace sheath let out?

Maybride, on June 2, 2020 at 6:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
So I dived head first and bought a dress online I had been lusting after for a few years. It’s preloved so I got an amazing deal on it! Catch was I couldn’t try it on. So it zips up, but I forgot about my stupid hips 😂
As you can see I think it’s too tight across my hips so it’s bunching across my stomach. Wedding is next year so I’m going to go fitness crazy, but wondering if anyone had ever let a lace sheath out (just in case!). I feel like maybe it’s not possible?

Any reassurance that it looks ok is welcome too 🙂😆🙈

Before you do anything to the dress, I suggest to finish your body transformation. Some brides have to alter their dress twice because they gain or lose weight before their day. I am altering my dress 3 months before my date, and hoping it stays perfectly fit. This lockdown thing makes me eat more! 🤣

Beautiful dress! Have you tried spanx? It’s not that tight on you... spanx might smooth out the wrinkles you are speaking of....

Have a look at the inside of the dress - wedding dresses usually have a decent amount of seam allowance when they’re first made because pretty much all of them have to be altered. I had a lace fit and flare which had to be let out at the hips (and taken in at the shoulders) and it was no problem at all. Mine had almost identical wrinkles to yours at the hips but after alterations they were completely gone. It’s a gorgeous dress!

I wouldn't suggest any changes to the dress itself before you get closer to the wedding, but I agree with KiwiDerbyBride - most dresses have a lot of give built into the seams. However, it would also depend on any alterations the previous owner had done.

I second the recommendation to try Spanx or something similar - if for no other reason to see if it works under the dress. You can still do your body transformation, but at least you will know you have a back up if needed. Spanx usually slims at least an inch all around.

Thank you! Fingers crossed. There is a little extra in the lining but I don’t think there is on the lace overlay!

Thanks all! I have been looking for suitable Spanx. I’ve got that whole low back dilemma that I think most will show or will cut me mid waist and be very noticeable. Thought I’d find a cheap pair to test the length: style before investing in the proper Spanx Smiley smile
Am thanks for the advice re waiting to alter it, will definitely do that, which is why I’m a bit unsure if and how much it can be altered right now (oh and the original seller didn’t alter it at all!)
