Anyone getting married in January?

Courtney, on November 14, 2013 at 8:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

People always look at me like I am a freak when I tell them I am. Like "really, in the dead of winter?" We live in SoCal people, we have no winter! But anway, anyone else doing this? What made you decide on that time of year? Did you get any discounts for not being in "peak season?" We did, and had our choice of vendors since we booked early and not many brides are competing for them! Score!Smiley smile

I'm about a month later and unfortunately it's the peak season here in HI because of the weather so no discounts at all but it is my favorite season here

think rainbows all day and whales jumping in the sunset, yeah.

We got married in Feb but in Vegas so it wasn't winter really. I figured all of our family in the northeast could use a break from their winter and fortunately the weather didn't play a role in anyone's travel. We also didn't have many school aged kids/parents on our guest list.

plus I like having an excuse to take time off work in February for our anniversary Smiley smile

@Jaimee- what area are you in? I am also getting married in January in Wisconsin. Here's hoping that we don't get the winter that we are expected to get :-/

Yep!! January 11th in Cancun Smiley smile I'm in Denver so January is pretty frigid here. So we decided to avoid that and go somewhere tropical!

I love my January ceremonies; so much to talk about, and everyone loves a party after the holidays!

Meeeee - we are date twins, just a year apart. I've actually always wanted a winter wedding and it happened to work because it is FH's off season from work and my winter break from grad school.

The fact that everything was cheaper didn't hurt matters!

Yay January! We chose it because it is off season and I love winter. I really hope the weather cooperates because we're in the Chicagoland area....and getting married here. If it snows really bad I will never hear the end of it from his mom or my mom!

Yay! We chose January partly because of the weather (I love winter, especially winter in Houston, because it's hardly a real winter hahaha), but moreso because we began dating on Christmas, so the 25th is just our number...and Jan 25 was the first one to fall on a Saturday so it just worked.

It being the offseason helps too. PLUS I absolutely love love love the holidays, and this just makes it feel like an extension of that for us Smiley smile

Does December count? I'm in Kansas and everyone says we're going to be snowed out on our wedding day. I hope not! We picked both month and day because of it being off-season. It's also when we were going to elope on vacation last year. It just all worked out for us!

Hooray December/ January and February friends! Smiley smile I really love wintertime too, it's my favorite time of the year. It just made sense for us. We aren't really into doing it in the blistering heat like all my friends seem to want to do. Lol.
