Anyone feel sad about having your reception at a banquet hall!

My “reception” will just be people coming over to my MIL’s cabin in Gatlinburg and having dinner! She is decorating it a bit but it’s nothing fancy or traditional at all. We like it because it’s cheap, easy, and our guests liked the idea

I originally wanted the wedding to be at a unique location and not a banquet hall (the vast majority of weddings I attend are in banquet halls); but after touring one "unique" location I changed my mind! The space I had in mind wouldn't have fit our guests and the list of all the things I would need to rent and pay for just kept adding up and I saw it becoming extremely ridiculous very quickly! After touring a few banquet halls that included catering, linens, chairs, tables and really minimal rentals I was easy to convince!

Girl don't feel that way, get you some nice linens, and rock that local banquet hall. I'm in the same boat. mine is at a local banquet hall as well and i'm doing the same advise I just gave you. Be excited, don't let your budget discourage one of the best days of your life. Your wedding definitely won't be "less than"

We are having our wedding and reception at a Rec Center. I really wanted to get married outside but I dont want to spend the extra money. We will make it work even though it isnt what we wanted.

The important thing is you are getting married! Put some extra attention into your ceremony and make it meaningful. And goodness; I never would have known that people feel discouraged by getting to have their wedding in a banquet hall. (For me, back in 1984, it was the church basement, and we were pretty happy with that.) Stay off Pinterest, and stop looking at wedding photos of people spending a fortune, and focus on the good things you have. (Not meaning to sound harsh, but you are lucky to have a wedding with a reception in a banquet hall.) Attitude is everything when it comes to enjoying your wedding day!

I'm having my wedding at a indoor pavilion at a county park and it's pretty much like a banquet hall. Chairs and tables are included and you can bring in your own caterer (wine, beer only), your own bakery, etc. The facility is nice, neutral paint, tons of windows, prep kitchen, two extra side rooms. I will be using one room for the cocktail hours. It has an arbor outside for outside ceremonies and the park area is perfect for pictures. It's a blank slate and the price can not be beat. Saving tons of money. It was the perfect choice and I'm extremely happy to have a large enough venue at a amazing price. I'm going to hook-up the decor and make it look amazing for my special day and there is no shame in it, only peace of mind and extreme happiness!

I agree with the other poster (@GoodMOB). So many brides are being influenced into believing their wedding has to look like a pinterest magazine shoot and women are fretting and going crazy trying to duplicate these expensive magazine editorials and spending excessive amounts of money for these over-the-top, fairy-tale, castle style weddings. If you're pockets are deep, hey go for it. If you been saving money for your fairytale wedding since you were 12, hey go for it. However, speaking only for myself, I have priorities, a grandchild, a small home business, a life and I have other things that my hard earned money can be spend on then to throw hundred of thousands of dollars chasing a wedding look or a fairy tale dream wedding. I choose to buy into my own reality and not one the wedding industry is trying to tell me I have to have.

No way, banquet halls are classic. And with so many people now having weddings in unconventional venues, pretty soon banquet halls might be the more exotic option
