Anyone Ever Get Onsite Hair/Makeup For Bride Only?

Nikki, on February 15, 2017 at 6:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

Just wondering if anyone has ever gotten on-site hair and makeup styling for only themselves as the bride? Or even just two people? I initially saw myself getting my hair and makeup done at my venue. We can get in two hours early and they have an absolutely beautiful Bride and Groom suites. I'm just now figuring out that most on-site Services have a minimum number of people they want you to have. I'm only having one bridesmaid, and my mom has already said no one else is doing her hair and makeup. And it looks like my future mother-in-law and future sister-in-law feel the same way.

Darn...hate to say it but you might have to go to a salon the day of, they almost all have a minimum requirement for travel - though I would keep looking around just to be sure.

I'm having someone come to me, and it's just me getting the services done. I am not having to pay travel unless it's a certain distance away. If you can only get in two hours before the ceremony, that doesn't seem like enough time though.

Thanks guys..@C&N I thought about that and I really wouldn't mind getting my hair done at the salon and then make up only at the venue but so far no luck!

That would probably be pretty hard to find- it will depend on what the stylist charges as a minimum. I had hair/makeup for me and just hair for two girls and that met the minimum for my stylist to come to me, but when I was shopping for someone I never found anyone who didn't require minimum services on at least a couple of women.

My Hair & MUA is traveling to me (for a fee) and only doing my hair & makeup. No minimum.

You can have them come for as many or as little As you want you will just have to pay more per person if it's one or two people. If it's important to you and you don't mind paying 5-600 bucks for two of you I doubt you will have any issues

I had someone come to me, but they had a dollar minimum. It was like $500-$600. So I paid it, and just had my flower girl and 11 yr old neices get their hair done. They were thrilled! It was worth it to me to avoid going to the salon.

My MUA is coming to me at my venue and it's most likely only going to be me getting anything done. I'm in NoVA

Although it's not impossible, it can be difficult to find hair and MUA to come to you when you will be the only person they are working on. Many require a minimum, but again there are people who don't need a minimum. Keep searching!

I'm having my regular beautician do my hair and makeup. Do have a regular stylist that does your hair? Their usually really nice about coming to the venue for the special day.

Thanks guys! Question, did you invite them to the wedding?

So I have a girl that I went to high school with MANY years ago. I used to go to her as my stylist because while she was far from where I lived she was close to where I worked. Then I switched jobs and eventually stopped going to her. She runs a local bridal hair/makeup company and she very sweetly offered to come to me to do my hair without her minimum. However, because of our background I would feel obligated to invite her and then of course the make up tech she'd come with and our guest is so tight as is.

Most MUA in my area don't work at a salon. I've actually had a couple tell me that if I book them and then booked a hair Stylist they work with that they won't charge an on site fee. Talk with the MUA your interested in and see if they do this

I live in a metropolitan area (DC) and found an on call hair and makeup service that come to you. I called and inquired and it turns out that they have a bridal package that will include two people, travel, hair, makeup with lashes, gratuities (the works) and if the BP want services they can decide on the day.

I always recommend blocking off an hour, making some calls, and seeing what can be done. Lots of vendors are flexible or have services they may not list online.

I am doing this! I'm getting hair and makeup and my SIL is getting hair done and that's it. Plenty of people were willing to come to us but we're in the off season.

For what it's worth, I discussed the possibility of doing on-site hair and make-up with my hairdresser. (I can't use her for my wedding day, since she is not available that day. So sad.) She said she would recommend against doing on-site services, since there is no guarantee that the venue's getting ready room will have adequate light, mirrors, outlets, etc. Plus, if the stylists forget a tool they need, they can't just go in the back to get it. They will never let you know they forgot something, but they will "make do" without it, possibly to the detriment of your hair and make-up.
