Anyone else hiking on honeymoon? Cute outfit ideas?

Idk about you but I always pictured wearing cute outfits on my honeymoon - but we'll be spending most of the time in the wilderness in August. I'm not great with sporty/hiking looks - any inspiration would be helpful! Would prefer to still look cute and feminine while being somewhat practical...

Yes we are actually staying in Polebridge for a few nights, can't wait! Only thing I'm really concerned about safety-wise is bears/wildlife since they say go out in groups of 3+ - did you do any hikes just the two of you or did you stay with tours?

Ughhhh alll of this!!!! I’m hiking in banff National Park- I’ll have to be a bit practical since it’s more extreme hiking but the clothes combinations I definitely want to be a little cuter!

Ahh I REALLY wanna go to Banff! It looks so gorgeous. Through pinteresting and googling I've found some pretty cute ideas, this is lame but a lot of celebrities have instagrams of hiking mountains and whatnot, and I'm seeing a big trend of high-waisted leggings paired with yoga crop tops, and then you can throw a flannel or fleece overtop if it gets cold! Yoga wear tends to be comfortable, moisture-wicking, and comes in more fitted, stylish shapes than straight up "hiking" clothes, for sure...they're also cheaper! If you're going fully into the wild and camping, absolutely you need those pricier, sturdier fabrics but for a day hike, NAH. Also H&M actually has some adorable activewear that's SO affordable.

That temperature range is rough!! You'll definitely need layers. I would bring shorts for the heat, moisture-wicking leggings for the more moderate temperatures and then I would layer yoga pants on top of the leggings when it gets really cold. A racer-back tank in a solid color would be cute when it's warm, add on a flannel as it gets cool and then a fleece and a jacket when it's colder.

I actually went with my dad (not FH) but all of the hiking we did was just the two of us. I was irrationally afraid of bears, to the point of almost not going, but it was totally fine. During 60 miles of hiking, we saw two bears but it was no problem. Even though you are hiking just the two of you, most of the trails will be busy enough that you will see other people periodically.

I will say, take bear spray. Also, hiking books say to make noise such as yelling "Hey, Bear!" and clapping your hands loudly. It sounds silly, but you should do it. If a bear knows you're coming, they will more than likely move away, but you do NOT want to accidentally sneak up on a bear.

Aw that would be such a fun father/daughter trip! Ok that's good to know, yeah we'll be doing the bear spray and whistles but still makes me a BIT nervous (I should never have watched The Revenant!). That said, seeing one from far away would be pretty cool...

I’m sure you’re wedding will be beautiful! I would’ve loved to get married in Colorado but a dw wouldn’t be financially feasible for many of our guests.
My trip is June 13th-18th! I’m hoping there’s enough hiking since I know some trails will still be inaccessible due to snow. Me and FH are both starting new jobs 3 weeks before the wedding so a honeymoon right after wasn’t possible 😞

I really like smartwool base layers for layering, especially if it will be cold. I’m not sure if anything they make would be cute enough for what you’re looking for, but they have fun patterns, and merino wool is really one of the best materials for any sort of hiking, especially if you are going to encounter temperature swings. Patagonia is another of my go-to outdoors brand that seems to have become really fashionable lately, and makes things with lots of fun patterns. I’m not sure of your budget, but Arcteryx is another great brand that makes great quality gear, and also seems to be becoming more popular for fashion purposes as well.

And make sure you know HOW to use bear spray! Be sure to read the directions, and practice using it to make sure you’re comfortable with it. I’ve heard too many stories of people misusing bear spray and accidentally spraying themselves or having it go off unintentionally.
