Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone else on here is having a smaller wedding and what your plans are for the reception? We should have somewhere around 60 guests and are holding the ceremony and reception at a country club which holds 50-150 people. We’ll have a cocktail hour, 3 course meal, open bar, DJ and dance floor. And I will go from 5:30-11pm. Our guests are mostly family and very close friends, which is how we wanted it to be.

I’ve expressed my anxieties here before about not exactly loving the wedding planning process/being the center of attention and all that. I would’ve loved to elope and then treat our immediate family and close friends to dinner, or done a restaurant brunch wedding, but my family insisted on doing the traditional type of wedding because they wanted to be able to dance and everything.

My concern is that guests will be bored or the dance floor will be empty. We hired a great DJ, but I am having a hard time picturing how it will go.

Tell me about your small wedding plans!

My fiance and I do not like being the center of attention, either. I wasn't planning to have a wedding, but my fiance and I ultimately decided it would be nice to do something.

We are inviting around 30-40 people to our wedding in September. Ceremony will be at a local private park, then we will have dinner at a local restaurant OR rent a hall and have dinner catered in. We opted not to have a DJ and dancing because it's not really our style.

I think small and intimate is nice-it will be nice to be able to spend more time with each of our guests. At some larger weddings I have been to, I literally talked to the bride & groom for around 20 seconds, and that was it. I want to avoid that at my wedding.

I'm having a small/medium wedding reception and It will be at my local fire hall. I'm thinking about shying away from some of the wedding traditions such as Father/daughter dance Mother/son dance because I don't like the whole eyes on me thing either. I'm thinking about just doing our first dance as husband and wife so we can get on to mingling with friends and family.

We are having an intimate destination wedding in Las Vegas- it'll be 26 or so friends/family (including 7 kids) that will be joining us for the whole time we are there. Some are flying in with us from Florida, others are coming from Colorado, North Carolina & Massachusetts. Should be a fantastic time! We wanted to keep it small so that everyone could enjoy it as a vacation as well.

Our wedding is at The Venetian, we are also having a small reception at a restaurant inside the hotel. From there we will just enjoy the rest of the evening and everyone is free to go about their business Smiley smile
