Anyone else having a grazing table?

Katelyn, on March 11, 2019 at 12:11 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 12

Our wedding is starting at 2 o'clock so we decided to have a grazing table full of goodies instead of catering a meal. It is different, fun and a great way to save money on food costs!

Anyone else doing something similar? If so, what are some foods/snacks that you will be including??

That sounds interesting. I haven't done it before but it does sound cool.

Is your ceremony starting at 2:00? Because mine did as well and we ended up serving dinner around 4:30.

It is, we will be finishing up at 7 so we figured that people will eat lunch before they come and if they are still hungry, they can eat dinner after the reception.

Okay, just curious. I think the grazing table is a good idea. If there will be drinking, make sure to have some filling food like bread, protein, cheese. Here's a link that might help:

Are you having dancing as well or is this meant as kind of a cake and punch type reception?

Dancing as well, we are going off to take pictures for about an hour between the ceremony and reception. So thought it would be a great opportunity for everyone to chat and snack.

Gotcha, I would just caution, from what I've seen on here (because I haven't attended a reception like this), people tend to leave a little early since it feels more "open house" -esque. Just something to consider.

I'd do like mini sandwiches, pinwheels, fruit trays, veggie trays, cookie/sweet trays, cheese tray, meat tray, crackers, BBQ little smokies, etc if you're wanting to do it. Finger foods/appetizers would be fine for mid afternoon, but I'd say most people would probably leave a little early to go get real food. Are you going to be doing a cake cutting or something to keep people there and make it feel reception-like? Also, people may tend to graze and eat more than they would with just a meal.

We're doing a grazing board as well but for the day before. Our wedding is at an Airbnb that sleeps 24 so almost all our family will be staying with us. We wanted to do a pool party/bbq the day before and wanted to keep the food pretty simple since everyone is getting in at different times. So we're having a grazing table for our guests while everyone arrives and making pizzas for dinner (the outdoor kitchen has a pizza oven).
