Anyone else get overwhelmed & confused dress shopping?

Danielle, on July 29, 2017 at 1:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I'm on a short timeline due to circumstances beyond my control. I started dress shopping a week ago & hit it hard so I could get something ordered by the 6 month mark. Unfortunately, after 7 bridal shops, I feel confused, underwhelmed with what I've tried on, and even flexed on my budget, although I hate spending money. What helped you ladies with dress shopping & finding the right one?

Well I looked at the designers the shop near by carried and found some dresses I liked. The one I screenshot was the second I tried on and it was the one. Maybe your expectations are too high. I knew certain things I wanted in a dress and mine had that and I looked the best in it so I grabbed it. Didn't really overthink it too much.

Do keep it mind that not everyone has the tearful moment of joy and the feeling that they found "the one". I tried on a handful of dresses, and then I retried on the dress I chose. It was the dress I felt most comfortable in and that I thought fit my style/personality. I didn't cry, nor had a huge feeling that it HAD to be that dress. I was just happy and comfortable, and that's what I want to be when I'm getting married to my best friend.

My advice: let go of the idea of "the one." There is no "one true match" in relationships and there is definitely no "one true match" in dresses.

Pick out something that you like. Something that is flattering on your body type. Something that makes you feel pretty. Something that is comfortable to wear. And something that fits your budget. That's all there is to it.

Yes I was like that too and got overwhelmed too and I also think I put too much pressure on finding the "one". I did find my dress today actually and I didn't really have this is the one feeling with any dress but I picked my dress based on the details cause I've never seen anything like it before and the way it fit my body. I felt beautiful, sexy, elegant and classy which is what I wanted. I did get a little emotional when I said yes and really pictured myself walking down the aisle in the dress.

Anyway maybe do a little research and narrow down a few designers you really like and see which stores carry those designers. You will find your dress!!!

Great choice in wedding date! I went to quite a few salons after my first dress fell through due to a shady store. The only advice I'd have is try on dresses you wouldn't choose for yourself. The salon I finally bought from asked me a few questions then they picked dresses out. I would have never chosen the dress I purchased to try on. It was the opposite of what I thought I wanted but once I had it on I loved it and didn't want to take it off!
