Anyone else do minimal invitations?

isabel1115, on September 13, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So we are not snail mail people at all. We and our friends and family are all pretty tech-focused and barely look at mailbox. Some of our friends send all their wedding correspondence via email. We did digital Save the Dates and my fiance wanted to send digital invitations too but I decided, let's do the one paper thing so people have a paper and a digital version.

We just got our invitations in and I love them. Funny I'm now looking at the "what to include in your invitation" articles and I guess we didn't include a lot! Ours just says: name, date, time, location and then on the back it says, view the website for more info and to rsvp. (The back was a straight up copy of Zola).

We didn't do any hotel blocks, attire, directions etc. Hotel blocks and attire are on our website. The block has a unique link on our website. Directions...doesn't everyone just punch the name of the place into their phone?

Just curious, did anyone else do this minimal invitation approach or did you go all out?

We did just a flat invitation with a matching RSVP card. No fuss, no muss, no complaints.

We went super simple too. I really wanted to direct our guests to the website so they can also look out for updates, like pictures of the front of our venue so they can find it without trouble. Attire, directions, and all of that would be included on an insert, not the invitation itself anyway. The only thing we goofed on was not including the time of our ceremony, but again, it's all on the website anyway.

Yeah that was our philosophy too. We didn't include any inserts. I just see the invitation as something to stick on your fridge (if they want) and a vehicle to the website, where I can easily update info, change typos and give more information. Alot of our guests have already gone to the website and they have to go there to RSVP anyways.

I am not tech savvy, but even I didn’t get all the additional information cards with my invited. I haven’t ordered them yet, but I do have them designed. We’re having the invite with our names and the location, a reception card telling where that’s at, and the rsvp card. The reception card has our wedding website info on it, so people can look to find hotel info and everything else. So I think you did fine, the dozens of cards we’re told to buy with invites are absolutely unnecessary.

We did all in one invitations from Minted, so they really only include the minimum required info.

Exactly, I like having the physical invitation for our guests to put up as they wish. But I'm hoping they use the website for any last minute questions so I'm not on my phone all day with people. The only exception will be my parents, but since my big brother will be with them I think we have a shot! lol

We didn't do invites at all. Just a website as our "invite." We wrote down/ had my mom tell the relatives that don't use the web. She's driving them anyway lol.

We kept ours simple. Invite included the basic information for the ceremony. We had an additional card for the reception since it was at a different location than the ceremony. We didn’t have a “details” card with attire/hotel blocks/directions or anything else though. We had an RSVP card as well.
