Anyone bought their dress/MOB dress at Nordstrom Bridal?

GrayCatVintage, on December 9, 2014 at 5:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

For some reason, my mom does NOT want to try on dresses - but at the same time she wants to purchase one quickly. She wants to make sure she gets a "fall dress" and does not want the hassle of buying it next year (which is fine with me). This is the issue. She impulsively bought a dress from an Asian site, and dropped about $55 on the dress. When she showed me the website, the picture featured was stolen from I believe Maggie Sottero. Of course when it arrived it was junky as you can imagine and it would not even fit me - she ordered a US size 16 and what came would not fit a child that was how small it was. So now she is fighting with her credit card company to force a refund because she sent it back and still has not gotten her money back. Now she is all about going to Nordstrom Bridal. I never heard of such a thing. Has any one had any experience shopping there?

Nordstrom has bridal boutiques in some of their bigger stores near major US cities. (example: In the Scottsdale, AZ store). These same stores often have more selection of more formal dresses than the usual Nordstrom. There is also a special online section for the bridal section of Nordstrom available here:

My mother actually bought her MOB dress from Nordstrom. It was this dress but in a petite size.

Based on what we learned from my mother's experience, you may find that the size/selection for MOB dresses, particularly in petite sizes, is not as great as you might expect.

In the end, mom had more success in ordering dresses from Nordstrom online and returning what she did not need directly to the store. Sometimes she would order the dresses herself but most of the time she would order them at a nearby Norstrom with the help of her favorite sales clerk (orders placed in store have free shipping and my mom lives ~10 minutes from the nearest store.)

Overall, my mother was happiest with the dresses she could find at Nordstrom (online and in store). Also, she could have basic alterations on the dress ( ie hemmed) performed at Nordstrom at a reasonable price.

Hi hun, I purchased my dress from Nordstrom and my fiance works there. I purchased mine from the SF Bridal Suite...Nordstrom has a small amount of bridal boutiques throughout their stores...not all Nordstroms have bridal suites.

I purchased a Matthew Christopher dress...the experience has been wonderful. They are allowing me to use my fiance's discount, the bridal suite Manager has been in regular contact with me since I purchased, they style me from head to toe (which is different from a majority of other places) and they even had a custom veil made to match my dress. These are personal stylists that match you to your dress, unlike most places. The girl had a number of dresses picked out for ME and did not make me tell her what I wanted. The experience has been amazing. I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Does anyone know if a Bridesmaid Bar is the same thing? My mother was under the impression they had bridesmaid/MOB dresses at the Indianapolis Nordstrom.

They had both at the Nordstrom I went to. The Bridal Suite was a lot more "fancy" though.

The "Bridesmaid Bar" sections are essentially a subset of what is offered in stores that have the full suite.

You might try calling the Indianapolis store and asking to speak to someone in dresses/special occasion to get an idea of the selection available in-store.

I have a BM dress from Nordstrom Bridal and I loved everything about it! I have actually worn it other times (how many people can say that) and I have even had 2 friends borrow it. The only down side is some of them are pricey. The one I had to buy was closer to $300...I was only on board because my mom works at Nordstrom and I got a really nice discount!

My mom has been to the Nordstrom bridal suite in the Seattle store and she loves it. She just went a couple weeks ago. She can't decide on which dress she wants haha so she hasn't committed yet but she's had a personal associate to answer her questions and they were there every step of the way-and she's able to use both her and my alterations credit from our Nordstrom visas towards her alterations, if needed.

I had an above and beyond experience as well trying on bridal dresses, and got a similar experience to what Ashlee was stating at the Seattle store as well but I ended up with a Pronovias dress, which Nordstrom doesn't carry.
