Anybody else in nc getting married more than a year out?

Joy, on December 14, 2021 at 12:43 PM Posted in North Carolina Planning 3 15

We got engaged in 2017 but I wanted to wait until my brother came home from overseas to get married. Our original date was in 2020 but you all know how that year went.

I want to get married in May of 2023 but we won't have a date until we choose a venue. Do any other NC brides have a date that is more than a year out? If so, what have you been able to get done so far, if anything?

We’re getting married end of January 2023 and have our wedding planner booked and reviewing our venue contract this weekend before signing! Also using the preferred vendor caterer from our venue and meeting with a photographer next Tuesday to discuss their style and pricing.

I'm scheduled to look at a few venues after Christmas. I'm so excited but nervous at the same time.

You sound busy. I'm hoping to have a deposit down on a vendor before February. I hear that a lot of places a booking fast because of Covid.

I wanted something overlooking the mountains but instead we picked a cute little barn venue which I am not complaining. Plus cost wise its easier to stay in town than driving so far up to the mountains.

I live in Raleigh and most of the venues around here are so expensive and not really my style. I was looking at venues in/around the mountains and a lot of them were similar in cost to Raleigh but had much better views. Barn venues are closer to my style because I really want everything to be outside. Plus I feel like they are easy decorate to make your own.

That was my fear so I wanted to get that figured out asap! I also have been compiling a list of venues over the past few years so had a great starting point. I also think my date made things easier as no venue told me they were booked yet for any weekends before or after my chosen date, but that they were definitely booked for all of 2022 and filling up for prime dates in 2023. So I definitely recommend if you have your heart set on some venues to go start touring as fast as you can to secure it!

I have changed my date more than once luckily I never shared my date publicly because I would always make it well over a year out. I got engaged Dec 25, 2019. My wedding date was originally going to be Oct 22, 2020 then moved it to 2022 now I have completely stopped planning and just taking the time to relax.

I lost my dad is June 2019, my mom sadly followed in Sep 2021. My future mother in law fell down the stairs in Oct 2021 and broke her leg. We are also in the process of moving literally 1 mile up the road but cannot get a firm closing date.
I live with my future in laws and have since 2019 after my father passed, we all work together as well. There is no rush to plan a wedding. I have not committed any money to anything yet because of anxiety of what if this isn’t really what I want. Yes I want to marry him but I have no clue what my actual dream wedding looks like because as a young child I didn’t ever plan on getting married because I thought you had to have kids after you got married. As an adult I know that once we get married the next question is “when will you have kids” which I rather hear “when’s the wedding” more that “when will you have kids”. My fiancé and his family have 4 dogs and one I love as if he is my child. I love the other ones just as much but this pup sleeps in the bed with us. We are a little family over here without having children.
