Anybody doing something unique during their ceremony?

Emily, on July 31, 2019 at 11:30 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 17
From ceremony programs to precessions to the exit- is anyone doing anything unique or different for their ceremony?
I thought about having tequila shots set out on a table at the entrance with a sign that said “Take a shot, Take a seat.” Our ceremony programs will like a small newspaper with humor, introducing the bridal party and a short story on my FH and I to keep the guests entertained until the ceremony starts. The rest of the ceremony will just be traditional but I would love to hear any uniqueness anyone has planned!

I'm walking down the aisle to a 311 song. It's my fiancé's favorite band. Shhhhh. It's a surprise

Our plan is to have a custom brand made that we will burn onto a piece of wood as our unity ceremony. However, the blacksmith shop at our venue burned down this past 4th of July, so we're hoping it will be rebuilt in time to still have the blacksmith do this for our ceremony. Fingers crossed!

Normally, the ketubah (formal Jewish marriage contract) is signed by just two witnesses. We had all the guests at our wedding sign it.

We did a ring warming/blessing where our wedding bands were passed around and blessed by our guests. We also did a reverse unity candle lighting ceremony where after we lit our unity candle we started the chain of having our guests' candles lit.

I'm riding my horse to the aisle, possibly to the altar. ❤ My entrance will be to "Marry me" by Train. My veil will be lavender/ purple ombre and the belt I'm wearing is purple with flowers. 💐

Oh the Star Wars music will be so beautiful and dramatic!! Such a great idea! Will you be playing the music through speakers, or do you have musicians?

My fiancé is walking down to Star Wars too! He is doing the Imperial March and wanted to walk down with a Darth Vader mask but I had to draw the line somewhere 😂 I’m excited for our guests to have a little laugh during the ceremony. I want it to feel joyful!

During seating my guests will be finding their seat to 2 Led Zeppelin songs, The Rain Song and Thank you instrumental, then when the girls start walking they will be walking into the ceremony area to a song from an 80s movies called Legend that has Tom Cruise in it, The song is called Loved by the Sun, by Tangerine Dream, its very whimsical and the lyrics are great. Then I will come in to the traditional royal wedding march. Its going to be craziness LOL I'm sure half of my guests and my FH friends will think I'm a weirdo LOL but I'm his weirdo!

Instead of having our "officiant" (we had a self-uniting ceremony, so he was more of an MC than an officiant) guide us through our vows, which we wrote ourselves, we asked family and friends to do so. Five people stood up, one by one, and asked us, "Will you..." or "Do you promise to..." questions, things that we were vowing to each other and to our marriage. We answered, as appropriate, "We will!" or "We do!" as each question was asked. It was really lovely, if I may say so myself Smiley smile

Do you pledge to love each other in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when love is simple and when it is an effort, and throughout your years together to be honest, faithful, kind, patient, and forgiving of one another?

Will you endeavor to grow together in your union, but support each other as individuals, encouraging each other to pursue the interests and hobbies that make you happier, stronger, more interesting partners?

Do you promise to be a loving and supportive presence in the lives of your nieces and nephews--[names redacted for privacy]—to love us as your own, and to always be there for us as role models and friends? [Read by our oldest niece; we are older and will not be having any children together.]

Will you foster in each other your mutual love of books, learning, and random facts, and encourage each other to continue to grow intellectually and approach the world with curiosity?

Do you promise to laugh together every day, celebrate even the small victories with cake, and build a home together that is full of warmth, happy furry animals, and good food, wine, and beer, where friends and family are always welcome?

We are BIG football/sports fans so I have ordered Pom poms in our wedding colors with our names and dates on the handle. I think it will be really cool for guests to wave them while we recess down the aisle 😊
