Any Wedgewood Brides on Weddingwire?

Holly, on July 30, 2020 at 2:32 AM Posted in California Planning 0 26
My fiancé and are so excited for our wedding at The Orchard through Wedgewood Weddings, but we’re concerned because our contract and their website say they are not rescheduling weddings unless they have to. (We signed our contract before COVID.) We are concerned that we’ll be forced to have our March 2021 wedding, in an unhealthy environment. If public health is like it is now in the spring, we won’t feel comfortable having a wedding of 70 of loved ones, including our grandparents, even if it is technically allowed by the state of California. We would rather postpone, but it seems like Wedgewood has been resistant to rescheduling. Are there any Wedgewood Brides who have gone through this process? I’ve had such a good time planning with them so far. My FH and I are really disappointed with their plans concerning COVID weddings.

Wedgewood bride here for next July! Honestly your date is so far away I would take it one day at a time and try to not worry, although I know this is stressful for everyone. I’m pretty sure if things are still bad by then and weddings aren’t possible they would have to let you reschedule, they absolutely wouldn’t force you to have your wedding during a pandemic. They just might not fully refund you, but they’ll let you reschedule. You could always give them a call!

I’m in the same boat. They will not let you reschedule until 10 days prior to your event.

My wedding was also supposed to have taken place at a Wedgwood venue in July of 2020. However like many other couples we had to postpone for July 2021, which I didn’t have a problem because I understand we’re in a pandemic and I’m hoping for the best. However, a friend of mine who is also getting married at the same venue this month, Oct 2020 was just told of the restrictions for her wedding. She had to cut her guest count down from 125 to 50 persons. The 50 persons would include the venue personnel, not all 50 are Her guests. Also, everyone must sit 6’ apart as well Tables need to be 6’ apart. She will no longer to have her reception indoor, it’s now to be outdoor. All guests must wear masks at all times (understanding). They can no longer have a dance floor, so that means no DJ. The cost of dinner for guests has increased, since they can no longer do buffet style it must now be served. So if things remain the same by Feb, when I have to mail out my invitations I don’t want to go through with my wedding. It’s not what I envisioned my wedding to be like. We also already put $13K down. This will also mean that it will only be a headache because of The vendors that I plan to hire; florist, decorator, band, photographer, videographer, etc., yet if I keep waiting for things get better and open up it doesn’t give me enough time to hire vendors and if I do, I will only have a few to pick from. I’m very much considering getting some legal assistance to breach contract. I understand Wedgwood has to comply with the rules and regulations of the state due to COVID-19, and I much rather keep everyone safe and healthy. But I also would like to have my dream wedding and if I can’t, I rather just go to city hall get married and have a small intimate dinner with our family. I’m devastated, but out of my control, hopefully I can get my full refund.

Hi Crjsj01, I'm so sorry to hear about this! We're all so excited to get married, but it's a challenging time to have a wedding. These necessary restrictions (on the tables, dance floor, DJ, dinner, etc.) are why my fiance and I have decided to cancel our contract with them. It's We've lost 3k from canceling that contract, and we will lose more if we can't reschedule the vendors we were contracted with. But it's worth it to have our dream day in a comfortable, safe way! We're going to have a ceremony/elopement on our original date. My fiance and I will continue to plan our dream wedding when it's easier to do so.

I've heard other Wedgewood brides who've lost much more (18k) take legal action, but I haven't heard about how that turned out. I'm deeply disappointed because I've always heard of the great consumer service Wedgewood provides. It's really too bad! Good luck. Please let me know how it goes with your Wedgewood property, and what you and your fiance decide to do about your wedding!

I agree Holly, having a dream wedding is all I wanted. Since our wedding has been postponed until July 20121 we will have to reach out to the Wedgewood staff first to make sure that all the necessary restrictions are still happening in Jan and Feb and then my fiancé and I will have to decide whether legal action is the route we will have to take. Im just glad that my friend told me about this, because Wedgwood reached out to her only a few weeks before her wedding date, so I could only imagine what she’s going through having cut down her guest list and cancel with vendors. I will provide an update once we get closer to Jan or Feb on what my fiancé and I decide. Good luck to you and congratulations on your wedding, it sounds very ideal! Smiley smile

Sounds like you have plenty of time but because venue payments are normally staggered I would say it is important to get you answer now before paying anything else. I would contact them and ask a few hypotheticals, (a) if conditions and restrictions are identical to now can we postpone without issue, (b) if conditions are same or similar but restrictions are removed what are our options, (c) what does "unless they have to" mean. I can tell you this language basically means nothing. This language puts neither party on notice as to what determines postponement or not it appears to be very subjective to whether they can force you to have you wedding or lose the money you've spent. ::this is not legal advice:: Never hurts to ask questions rather than wonder.

We were in almost the exact same boat for our wedgewood wedding in Mesa, AZ for January 2021. About a 70 person wedding and all our family lives out of state (planned before COVID). We just last week decided to cancel/postpone for the safety of the guests and these are our options:

“You can postpone to a Sunday in January or February of 2022 but you will forfeit half of what you have currently paid and the remaining half will transfer to the new date. The wedding pricing will also switch to 2022 pricing in this scenario.

If you want to postpone to a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in 2021 or a Friday or Saturday in 2022 you will forfeit 100% of your total payments and essentially rebook your wedding for that new date. In this case you will have to pay a new 25% space reservation fee.”

Oops forgot to copy the first part too “ We can allow you to postpone to any day of the week in January 2021 – August 2021 OR to any Monday-Wednesday in September 2021 – December 2021 and the money you have paid toward your current wedding date will transfer to your new wedding date.”

My advise is to find someone other than Wedgewood they canceled my daughters wedding and would not do a refund. Wedgewood wedding are crooks any company that takes your money and will not give a refund has a special seat for them in Hell.

My daughters wedding was so far away to when the COVID started and then in less than 30 days from her wedding date they called and canceled and to top it off they kept 3000.00 of my money and refused a refund. We were told we could get married somewhere else and have the reception there next year in 2021. When we thought that as a consideration we contacted them and they sent a new contract. When reading it we were being charged the same amount as for the whole wedding even though they were not giving us a wedding. Please save your money and go somewhere else

If you can find an attorney to go after them for breach of contract please let me know so I can hire the same attorney because they took 3000.00 from me and will not give me a refund. I would think there would be a way to do a class action suit against Wedgewood Wedding if so they can add me. My contact information is Robin Cunningham my email is *********@*****.***

We ended up canceling our contract with Wedgewood too, before losing anymore money to them! We’ll be having an elopement/civil ceremony on our original date and having our 70-person, traditional wedding when it’s easier to plan. I hope you get to have yours too! The way you want it; safely and with no restrictions!

Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that happened to you and your daughter. I know of a Wedgewood bride who lost around 18k to them, and her family sued. I’m not sure how of the result of the suit. But I wish you all good luck!

    Hello,

We are supposed to get married at Galway Downs Wedgwood Wedding in Temecula on 4/2/21 and they are making us wait until six weeks before to postpone. Does anybody know what the qualifications are for postponements to be approved?

Hi! We were told the same thing, but my fiancé was pretty persistent on being able to postpone ASAP and he spoke with the manager and she was able to help us out. We postponed 8 weeks rather than the six. Not a whole difference but it was better than nothing.

That’s my venue too. Are they letting you move your deposit if you do postpone?

Oh, that’s good to know! I will try again 8 weeks before. Did they let you use the money you’ve already paid as a credit?

No I haven’t moved mine, my wedding is July 2021. But since you said they are letting you postpone 6 weeks out I was asking if they are letting you move your deposit/what you’ve paid so far.
