Any tips or hacks out there?

Jennifer, on August 21, 2021 at 3:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
Getting married in less than two weeks. Lots of anxiety right now about the wedding band exchange and kiss. I’m a lover of The Wedding Singer and didn’t know if people did like they did, practice the kiss? Also, I’m so terrified about the band not fitting due to heat, any tips out there about how to ensure the band goes on without issue (ie., oil, lotion, putting ice on your finger until numb until the ceremony - seriously though)? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure there are people who practice, but we didn't. Honestly, I'm not sure that practicing would have done a lot of good anyway - it's a very different situation from what your day to day is like - different clothes, you're in front of an audience, etc. Believe me, it comes naturally.

Our wedding was outside in Alabama in July but we were both inside essentially until the ceremony (well, until our different entrances, but still), so our fingers didn't have time to swell. I assume you're carrying a bouquet, which will keep your hands up a little, so that will also help with finger swelling. If you do have concerns, try going outside for a bit on a hot/humid day (15, 30, 45 minutes - however long you think your ceremony will be) and then go back in and immediately try putting your band on. You're not going to want to have something on your finger - it could get on your dress . . .

Nope, I think it’s better if you just let it come naturally.

If you want you can put a small amount of lotion on your hand, just make sure to rub it in well so it doesn’t get on your dress. However I suspect with the heat and holding your bouquet your hands will already be sweating.

Drink lots of water!!!!! This has made my ring so loose. I don’t know that you have to practice - just go with it when it happens… how you kiss is what should happen! ❤️

Running your hands in cold water before heading outside might help. . .I know it helps me when I'm swollen to help get my rings off.
